Questions & Mysteries What’s the point of being a swordsman?

#14
Because swordsmanship in One Piece is more developed and expansive than most other Shounen.

In Naruto, swordsmen are fodders and ninja are peak beings while it's vice versa with One Piece where ninja aren't that strong while most top tiers are swordsmen.

Swordsmanship is one of the strongest fighting styles in One Piece because of how lethal and it gives you a wider range.

And it's traditional for pirates to use swords, guns and the likes.

But Oda focuses on swords more due to Japanese influence.

Why? It’s like choosing to be a Samurai in the Narutoverse. Seems like nothing but a burden and extra pain
It allows you punching with a sword. By using the sword as extension the hakiman protects his previous hand by delegating the force to a sword.

This forum's turned quite intellectual about this topic.

imma be real with u. atp in the story there isn't a reason. its why the wss title isn't sought after. but i feel like when the stories ends and wano opens to the world, swordsman will start popping up and perhaps we'll have a gag of zoro fighting weak swordsman ebcause the wss title is much more desired now
