Like there were some random top tiers non afiliated with anyone just lying around for akainu to recruit? That even vereran NW yonkou commanders are trash compared to them?
While akainu and kizaru have been among marines for 30 years to be admirals.

This why would be better writing if they were always in marines but vice admirals and got promoted in the 2 years

i can see issho being a bounty hunter of reasonable fame and getting an 'offer' from the marines

he accepted because he thought it's a great chance to destroy the corrupt organization from within

ryokugyu looks like some cheap whore, akainu probably picked him up somewhere he'd never admit visiting
