Why not, he is a legend, just like Bon Clay was, except the latter got quite the storyline next, bit Gin is overall one of the most important appearances in the series. And it would be cool to see him spar with Sanji once again.

In the Two Cover Stories that showed past characters post time skip. None of the Krieg Pirates showed up. And they never got a Cover Story, unlike Hachi and Bon Clay that showed up later in the story.
