Zoro was my first favorite the moment he was introduced. I have always been a fan of the main character's Beta, just like how I love Vegeta, Hisoka and Hiei. However, when Sanji was introduced, I think he's got a better personality and a fighting style that matches mine minus the fire.

I dont decide who is my favorite character based on character moments. What I look for is the character's ideology and what he stands for. I have certain criteria for that, like starting from the bottom and fighting against all odds to win. Dragon fits this criteria based on his speech when he saved Sabo. And his speech about Luffy was also intriguing.

Luffy, being a shonen MC, has too much plot armor.

I love SHs and respect their goals, but all of them are prodigies.

If you read the manga "Days" (it is about Football). Then you know what I mean, Sakamoto started as a complete newbie,
he did not accomplish anything, failed again and again, and now finally he has his moment of glory.
A small victory, yet it was so satisfying.

The moment Nami asked Luffy help and he didn't even ask her why she betrayed him or her backstory or anything and instead he assured Nami with his treasure indicating that Nami is his nakama and all Nami had to do was to ask his help....and in the same arc he destroys Nami room which is giving her ultimate "freedom".....

And this scene.....it is one of the iconic scenes in the whole series....and when Luffy says he is dead with smile......

Yes these moments were amazing too. . Luffy is one of my favourites even if I mostly talk about Zoro here.

I dont like this 'chosen one' plot. But then, Zoro is also the 'second Ryuma' and whatnot.
I think the reason many ppl dislike Luffy is because their needs as an audience changed over the years. Luffy is a total kid, he's a shonen mc and not in a seinen. Whereas Zoro is written as a seinen mc.

Luffy when he casually insulted Coby and Alvida, then proceeds to throw hands right and left at everyone who annoyed him. Close second is Zoro because he is just so cold. You are lying to yourself if you say you don't enjoy him. Both of them give such good serotonin.
