I liked his intro when he apologized to the kid saying his pants ate her ice cream.

- Cool design
- Cool devil fruit
- Badass attitude
- Has pride in his profession, but willing to work with pirates when necessary
- High morals and values
- Isn't one dimensional
- Cares about his fellow Marines

Plus the scene below sealed the deal. If you disagree with my reasons, you know exactly what I want you to eat :catrude:

Jimbei: as soon as we finally met him in person, knew I was going to like him.
Law: seemed cool at Sabaody, but it wasn’t until Marineford he began to become one of my favorites.
Whitebeard and Akainu: somewhat similar to Law, only I wasn’t too thrilled with either at first. Whitebeard changed quicker when we saw that he had initially tried to convince Ace not to chase after Blackbeard, but Akainu took longer. As the years passed by, and after antagonists like Kaido and Meme, I really began to appreciate what a great antagonist he is.

I liked Tashigi right from her introduction. A female rival to one of our protagonists? Someone on the opposite side of the law? Sign me up. I’ve always liked the cat and mouse dynamic in series such as Lupin, so from a conceptual level, Tashigi poked my interest.

What made my attachment deepen is how resolved she is in her principles despite what the world tells to her. She isn’t always sure what she has to do, but overcoming those doubts are what make us human.

To that end, I would go with “YES SIR!” It shares commonalities with “NEVER LOSE AGAIN,” but what I like about Tashigi’s moment and how it differs is in the internal struggle she’s dealing with. In her moment of weakness prior, she almost questioned everything she had come to believe. Did she do wrong in helping the Pirates? Was all her notion of “justice” a lie? No, it wasn’t. And with some tough love by her superior, she aims to become stronger.

Really liked Doflamingo throughout the manga but the more emphasis he had from the end of Punk Hazard onwards, he got my full attention. I probably would've made him my favorite character by the end of Dressrosa without these parts, but they pushed him into that place for me.

He's utterly ruthless and willing to let his family die for him, like Vergo or Monet. But he's still very defensive of them. Can't get over how casually he says he murders his father too. That drives me nuts.

But this is where it really all came into place.

There just a rawness here. You see Doflamingo living in squalor, hurt and his mother in bed. You had him admitting again to murdering his father and taking his fucking head to Mary Geose and being rejected. His entire dismissal of humanity and putting himself above it and finally.. Just his goal. Completely destroying everything the Celestial Dragons own, ripping the carpet out from under them. I took him as a puppet master / middle man up until this point.

Not someone with big goals himself. But fuck, that got me stalled. Doflamingo wants the world to be destroyed just so the Celestial Dragons know how he and his family had it back when he was a kid.

That type of crazy energy and ambition hiding under that kinda cheerful & nonchalant demeanor he usually has? There's no other OP character half as interesting as Doffy.

Blackbeard: Killing Whitebeard, stealing his fruit and declaring that it’s now his age.

Akainu: Ordering the destruction of the Ohara civilian ship and killing the marine who wanted to escape the Marineford war and go back to his family.

Capone: Finding out his past of always killing leader of a group for his own amusement, and watching him shoot rocket launchers at Big Mom.

Enel: One shotting Robin and Zoro saying that she’s a woman and Enel replying “I can see that”.

Magellan: One shotting the Blackbeard Pirates and just watching everyone including Crocodile and Jinbei run from him like cowards.

Zoro from the moment he was introduced. He just carried a presence about him that was so badass. Then you see he has a compassionate side too when he's eating the food left by little girl. His drive, loyalty to his captain, rawness, design, fighting style and sheer badassery are some of the reasons he's my favourite.

I also like Zoro's ability to take charge of a situation when necessary and function as the crew's unofficial VC and Luffy's guidepost.

His dynamic with Luffy is also my favourite in the series. I feel they truly have a brotherly bond and seeing then reunite in Wano was really amazing.
Luffy and Zoro were pretty much neck and neck for me until Thriller Bark, where 'Nothing Happened'... That cemented Zoro as my number 1.

That being said I still love Luffy and don't really talk about him as much as Zoro. I also like that he is not your typical hero, he is selfish yet generally makes the morally right decision. His carefree attitude, humour (I feel better depicted in the anime)

and undying trust in his crew are some of my favourite qualities about him
Not to mention, when Luffy gets serious, he is badass af

Finally there's Law. He was the standout at Punk Hazard and has my favourite DF in the series.

If you look at the current state of the New World, it's state can be rooted back to Law. He became the trigger of change when he sliced apart from Punk Hazard lab

and created his alliance with Luffy
Not to mention, he has my favourite backstory in the series.:catcry:

It also helps that Zoro and Law are voiced by two of my favourite VAs (Kazuya Nakai and Hiroshi Kamiya) and both are swordsmen lol.

Anyway these are my top 3 favourite characters in One Piece.

Choosing a One Piece favorite character or a favorite moment has always been arduous for me. Gun to my head, I'd say Doflamingo but in my heart of hearts I know it could be 20 other characters.

So I'll share the moment I knew I'll never stop reading One Piece regardless of how good/bad it became

I initially thought Ace was going to be an arc villain until he was introduced as Luffy's brother in Alabasta. But I really liked the restaurant scene, this big shot pirate that is so carefree he can literally fall asleep eating in a restaurant. And when he punched through all of the Baroque works ships before he left, I knew he was going to be one of my fav.

As for Perona, I liked her design a lot when she was introduced but she wasn't in my top characters yet. But it was when she was stuck on the island with Zoro and all of the shenanigans that happened that made me love how fun she is as a character. When I went back and reread her scenes in Thriller Bark, it solidified her as my fav character
