Maybe Roger. It's implied someone whooped him in God Valley and Roger seems to be the one.
Makes sense because Kaido wanted to challenge him (possibly because Roger was the strongest at the time? idk)
I don't see the others beating him. Nothing really hinted to them fighting and defeating him.

Kaido definitely wouldn’t have joined Rocks unless Xebec proved himself stronger. Kaido believes the strongest should lead.

I think the idea of having to fight someone who's relative to you in power before fighting another person who seems to be relative to you in power is a very bad idea, since:
One: Kaido would take a long time to beat Shanks, not to mention his whole crew being there while Kaido only had King with him, by the time they finished the war would be over.
Two: Kaido would be too exhausted from fighting Shanks to go to Marineford and fight anyone.
Retreating was the best option.

I doubt Shanks beat Kaido pre-ts. He probably negotiated. Whitebeard and Roger might have beaten a young Kaido. Oden was robbed of his W. Xebec probably beat everyone that was under his crew at some point. It was implied they fought each other.

Lmao it’s a retcon because you don’t like it. Kaido purposely getting captured by the Marines isn’t considered among his defeats. It was mentioned in his intro that he was defeated 7 times and captured by the Marines 19 times (he willingly turned himself in to get food, so those don’t count as defeats).

As I said, Kaido would not serve under Xebec unless Xebec proved himself stronger.

So Kaido thought he and King were enough to handle the WBPs and Marines, but couldn’t handle the RHPs? Sounds like RHP hype to me
