So whenever a flashback is happening and a character is explaining it, you expect that most of what is being shown on panel is also being spoken offscreen by the character explaining it.
like Kin’emon told most, if not all, of what happened in the Oden flashback to Luffy. (Maybe except the scenes between Orochi and his grandmother, those are the ones that are coming from a narrator point of view)
And there are flashbacks where no one is explaining anything like the skypiea flashback where we don’t have a character telling anyone this story of Noland’s and Calgara so whatever.
But this Harald Loki Flashback is bizarre since it’s supposedly Loki and Gaban telling bits and pieces of the story but there’s SIGNIFICANT SHIT that they obviously didn’t know that is appearing in this flashback. Like Luffy isn’t being told right now that Rocks is Teach’s father, right? Neither Gaban nor Loki know this right? Luffy also isn’t being told about Harald and Rocks’ adventures in Mariejois since Gaban and Loki don’t know shit about this.
This flashback is hype but Oda is kinda of playing fast and loose about what we expect characters to know and not know.
