Which real life pirate was WB based on?

As Oda said Marshall D. Teach is based on real history pirate Blackbeard Edward Teach.

But Whitebeard Edward Newgate wasn't based on Blackbeard.

Most people think ''beard'' pirates phenomena is started with Blackbeard first, however there was once a pirate called ''beard'' before 1700, which was before Blackbeard's time.

''Redbeard'' Baraborossa, as the leader of Barbary Pirates, was an active pirate around 1500.

- In 1505, he captured a Warship that contains 380 Spanish soldiers and 60 Spanish Knights when Redbeard pirates had less than 200 men.

- In 1510, the Barbary pirates were keep fighting vs the Spanish Navy on Algiers.

- In 1516, Redbeard with only 1,500 men, defeated the army of 20,000 Spanish soldiers, Spanish army lost 3,000 men in that battle on Algiers.

Now, what is the similarity with real life ''Blackbeard''?

The similarity isn't just the ''beard'' part, they both fought againt the same enemy: Spanish army.

Privateer Edward Teach fought in;

-War of the Spanish Succession as a privateer during 1701, fought against Spain and France on West Indies such as Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Gulf of Mexico.

-At the end of the War in 1713, like many other privateers did, he turned into pirate. Edward Teach becomes ''Blackbeard''.

There should be many pirates with beard but only few called with that nickname. Did Edward Teach earn this nickname based on his battle prowess vs the Spaniards? Since Redbeard was the scourge of Spain, could it be that the reason why Edward took or they give that nickname to him?

-As a pirate, Blackbeard plunders the Spanish ships and colonies at Gulf of Mexico and they nicknamed him ''El Gran Diablo''.

-However, Teach doesn't stop with Spanish colonies and ships only, he started to plunder French and British ships and colonies as well, fought vs the British Royal Navy Warship Scarborough, and then he even blockaded the entire Charleston City for 6 days on South Carolina seas.

Other than their common enemy Spain, Redbeard was also known as ''King of Pirates''.

Which suits with how Whitebeard was treated as Pirate King Roger's equal and as Garp said, ''King of the Seas'';

This is not all.

Whitebeard is known as ''Father'' to his crew.

Is there any Real life Pirate who was known as ''Father''?

In 1504 and 1510, there was a pirate who transported Mudéjars from Spain to North Africa, because of his efforts to help the people who are expelled from Spain and transported them to the safer lands, people called that pirate ''Father'' (Baba Aruj/Father Aruj), that Pirate's name was ''Redbeard''.

-They share ''beard'' in their pirate name.

-They were both called ''Father''.

-Both ''beard'' pirates Whitebeard/Redbeard that came before Black''beard''.

-Both known as ''King of the Seas''.

-And both Redbeard and Blackbeard fought against the same enemy before; Spanish army, anf both are great fighters and commanders.

It looks like too much of a coincidence.

Another interesting detail is that, we know ''Red'' hair was in contact with Whitebeard about Blackbeard, and there was a conversation abour Red hair losing his left arm in that meeting as well.

And what is the injury that Red hair has suffered? Lost his left arm before. Redbeard also lost his left arm in a battle vs Spanish army, then he was called ''Silver Arm'' due to the Silver replacement on his left.

Urouge & Hajrudin are literally Named after Barbarossa Brothers
(I speak Arabic & these are clearly taken from these Two)

Urouge Guy became known as Father Urouge (Baba Aruj in Arabic) cuz He transported many Refugees of different Religions, which is exactly what Urouge Crew is all about, He himself was forced out of Birka cuz of Enel, so He decided to help those like him

If you go check Urouge Crew, you will find that some look Christian, some look Jews, some look Hindu ... etc
And He is clearly like their Father, similar to Whitebeard, (Father Urouge)

Europe then changed the Name of Baba Aruj to Barbarossa which is "Red Beard" in Italian
And then after his Death, his Brother Hajrudin inherited that Epithet (Whose Name was given to Current Captain of Giant Pirates)

It's also seen that Giant Pirates should have Two Leaders, so this might Hint that Hajrudin & Urouge Crew might become One.
Hence why Urouge was given a DF that turns him into a Giant (Increases his Strength/Size)

Whitebeard on other Hand is said by Oda to be modeled after a Guy He knew who worked in his Favorite Pub if i recall.
Also according to Oda, Whitebeard is related to a Lurking Legend, and neither God Valley Incident nor Roger gave WB that Chest Scar
So it must be this Lurking Legend

Which is probably a Reference to Whitebeard being like Moby Dick & this Lurking Legend is One Piece's Captain Ahab

Oda using Redbeard's name on 1 of the Supernovas is a good sign as we know he knew about Redbeard as well, Redbeard was called the greatest pirate of his time.

But other than using that name, I don't see many similarities with Supernova Monk, perhaps Supernova Monk from Sky island helped people too but he wasn't called ''father'' like WB was called.

Redbeard probably the only real life pirate who was called ''father''.

And WB is also the greatest pirate of his time just like Redbeard.

While Supernova Monk isn't, its also based on Grigori Rasputin who is also called ''Mad Monk''.

Oda mix up a lot of things as well, so its definitely not based on 1 thing, he uses multiple people to create 1 character in his series. But I see more similarities between Redbeard and WB, compared to the Monk.
