We didn't even take an L in reference to it.

We zoro fans stated that zoro would not fight king since zoro would not benefit from it because we already saw him cut kaido severely. Ontop of the fact that he was already cutting kaidos blast breathe which means he would not benefit cutting kings flame.

Because of this ODA gave king durability exceeding kaidos due to an ability attributed to kings race using fire. This way oda created relevance for kings Flame while also granting king something that exceeds even kaidos for zoro to match and defeat.

There were 0 clues of those things prior in reference to king before he face zoro
