Character Discussion Whitebeard deeply wanted to get revenge from Blackbeard ,but didn’t want to avenge Oden for obvious reasons.

@Seth I don't defend Wano much but I think the "Oda ruined Whitebeard with chapter 999" debate is a lot more complicated than that.
Whitebeard would've probably fought Kaidou for Oden, if not for meeting Roger (before his death) and learning about the One Piece and the prophecy about "Joyboy" that Roger and Oden were talking about.
I think it stands to reason that Whitebeard accepted that Kaidou's defeat and the liberation of Wano should come from the hands of that chosen one/Joyboy that Oden and Roger talked about as it is his destiny to do so, and not Whitebeard's.
We'll probably learn more once we get the full exposition dump on the prophecy.

WB was always a cautious man who'd avoid unnecessary conflict whenever it was possible. He cared about his people, but he was not dumb enough to make pointless sacrifices for revenge. I am not sure what the fuss is about WB not avenging Oden when he more or less chose to do the same to Thatch. WB didn't even consider chasing after BB despite there being no consequences to killing BB. MF war happened because Ace could be saved, so WB risked everything to save him. It's a different story when you're seeking revenge for a fallen crew member.
Do you all remember what Ace told Luffy when he went to MF? He told him that he has no business getting involved with his adventures and their consequences. Oden always considered Wano his own problem. He openly declined any help from outsiders and WB understands it perfectly. Oden fought his own fight and lost regardless of how it was done.

Thank you. I like to think people can understand the characters and story without explicit dialogue, but this understanding seemed to be missing from the beginning.

I read a lot of books in my life. One Piece would be yet another subpar piece of fantasy that wouldn't sell well if it was in form of a book.
Oda can't write interesting stories especially post ts. Pre ts he at least had some ideas and clues about what he is doing. Post ts is a downward spiral.

Who said that this is the only thing , it is just an indication for what the level of writing can reach .
