They're all quite well written actually. For example one thing about Linlin that gets a lot of hate is her memory loss in Wano. People don't realise or understand that her childhood showed us quite clearly that she is prone to memory losses/lapses. It was entirely within her character for something like that to happen.

Kaido's whole spiel was not about being the strongest, but about making a meaningful contribution while he dies the same way his captain did in God Valley - this is why he wanted Joyboy to kill him. Why he was jealous of Oden, Roger and Whitebeard.

Just gotta pay attention to the small details and it completely changes how a character is perceived or comes across.

Well written is subjective. WB for now is best written but personally I never cared much for him. I was supporting marines in MF war when I was reading for first time.

BM's backstory is good. She is decently written but Oda also makes her a clown so it diminishes it

BB is also good.

Shanks is decent and I doubt oda will fumble here.

Kaido had potential but oda ruined it.

To be fair to Shanks, Oda is still holding out on him so we don't really know what his characterisation is going to end up like as of yet. WB, Linlin and Kaido are all dead so they should be completed characters now (bar flashbacks potentially screwing somebody over).

There's nothing wrong with the OG Admirals, Akainu, Kuzan, Kizaru in terms of writing. I could say the same for the OG Warlords.

You calling him Gary stu for the dumbest/wrong reasons and with very little info about shanks, Gary stu/Mary sue are characters that are skill and powerfull for no reason but shanks was on one of the greatest pirate crews ever it makes sense for him to be this powerful and Gary stu/Mary sue are liked by characters with no reasoning or effort and so i don't see characters suddenly saying how great shanks is randomly or he unreasonable amount of love in the world of one piece, so calling him a Gary stu is bs hate.

There's nothing wrong with the OG Admirals, Akainu, Kuzan, Kizaru in terms of writing. I could say the same for the OG Warlords.

The only really well written character among these is Doffy imo.
Moria, Croco and Kuzan since he joined BBP are just good.

As for the others i just hope when their time comes their backstory/motives etc etc will be justified.

Being born with conqueror’s haki, being born a member of the CD warrior family, being raised on the pirate king’s ship, being given an endless supply of chocolate as a child, being made to like Jesus in Film Red, and most importantly, having literally no character flaws.

It’s not the fact that Shanks is powerful that makes him a Gary Stu. I never said that.
