You have to take context into consideration, there’s more mystery around Rayleigh and top-tiers in general back then. We’ve seen yonkos fall by now so there’s more reservation about how impressive old Gabby will be. If he follows through next chapter against a yonko reaching his prime then that will be way more hype imo.

Rayleigh also immediately got to save them against enemies, Gaban is just talking to them casually this chapter. The next chapter counts as part of his introduction.
