General & Others Who’s more impressive? Blackbeard or Oden?

Both have left a mark to remember them by on two characters that are at the top of the verse but who looks better when compared?

I would say Kaido is stronger but Shanks was stated to have been having legendary duels with Mihawk at that age by Whitebeard so I’ll take that as they were atleast on the level of Oden who shocked Whitebeard with his strength, making him his brother, not a son.

You can name multiple characters who can do this to the lizard no biggie, scarring Shanks and traumatizing him to this day is unique.

Scarring Shanks especially on such an area like his eye is more impressive than scarring a huge dragon. This was done by pre-yami Teach too, while Oden was at his peak when fighting Kaido.

BB did to non prime shanks and scarring a normal human is not impressive. Oden did that to Kaido who was more close to his prime. Pretty self explanatory

Oden is more impressive because of the boiling he survived and all this pain and shame he endured. He is just awkwardly written, so we empathize with his life and end.

For Shanks these aspects are still lacking. He just has some randomly spread "feats". But he himself hasn't struggled and in order to gauge him higher than Oden, Shanks has to suffer first.

Can significantly is not the debate here. Kaido remembered 5 faces but only one gave him a PTSD and a scar, it was Oden. Not Roger, wb, luffy, Shanks or xebec. All failed. And those people can hurt Shanks also.

But only two succeeded for kaido, it's zoro and here oden.

I repeat Shanks said "I got numerous injuries but only one hurt me the most and it's BB's one". Means anyone can hurt him. A fish ate his arm.
To be honest the Lord of the coast is more impressive than BB's scar.

So to stay on the subject, Oden did that to kaido without any help in 1 vs 1 face to face, to a dragon and would have won if no interruption. It's way more impressive.

If it was current blackbeard then it would go to Oden for sure. But Blackbeard scarred someone on par with Mihawk before even getting his powers. He did it with claws too, which is a hard weapon to use, especially against a master swordsman.

The other suffered in his childhood, and moved up in life by clever schemes and backstabbing.

It’s true that only Oden and Zoro scarred him as far as we know, but we don’ really know if or when Kaido faced the others in a true 1v1, but do you believe the swordsmen I listed, all portrayed stronger than Oden besides Zoro, can’t give him such scars?

Anyone can hurt Shanks even a civilian, same can be said about anyone with an average body. He’s still one of the most skilled swordsmen in the world. During his convo with Whitebeard, the context was Shanks’ legendary duels with Hawkeye, that were even recognized by Whitebeard. Shanks then mentions how this one hurts the most, hell it even inspired his jolly roger, and tells Whitebeard how he wasn’t offguard.

Even as yonko now Shanks still recognizes Teach’s power. Oden is stronger than Shanks and Blackbeard at that point, but for someone of base Teach level besting Shanks and scarring him is massive, that takes a lot of skill if yonko Shanks still recognizes it to this day.
