People still can't see Oda's basic writing :

Ace : Burgess : Jack --> youngest commanders of their crews , they were shown first and went on losing in different arc/place before we reached their Main Arc (with the crew)

Marco & Jozu : Shiryu & Lafitte : King & Queen --> introduced at the same time, mocking or commenting on their youngest commanders!

Burgess is very underwhelming and already lost a lot of times, his fruit must be a HUGE power up to hype him up like that.

The issue comes from if you consider the Red Hair Pirates or Strawhats for the main comparison.

Van Augur would work opposite Yassop, but Usopp is too weak to be placed there.

Then i think the third one is Van Augur, i know Ussop is the weakest of the SH, and i hope we have a great moment for him, in what probably would be the last individual fight of the character in the story.



The OG Blackbeard Pirates where of course created since Jaya as counters the SH characters, as Oda was probably already thinking on themes for the eventual clash of the BBP vs SHP.

Zoro is a exception, but because Oda could already been thinking on introducing a strong Swordsman on the BBP in the grand finale of the first part of the story. The BBP actions and plotlines to culminate in WB death and Teach stealing the Gura Gura seems to have been established since before Alabasta.
