Golden Era Marines can't hold a candle to the current marines? 
The strongest marine who is constantly put next to the PK - Golden Era
The only top marine confirmed to have CoC - Golden Era
The guy who is currently in charge of keeping the WG balanced with the other power - Golden Era
All the top marines we know of so far, come from the Golden Era, but the Golden Era doesn't hold a candle?

It is like when WB was dead... wb pirates cant do jack anymore... you need to run away to survive.

Gonna say it was Roger.
And the only reason is simply Sengoku's own words (He was Roger's first and most powerful enemy). So, if Roger's most powerful enemy ended up being defeated by someone else, it will be the equivelant to let's say at EoS, the most powerful pirate opponent for Luffy is Blackbeard, and he simply ended up being defeated by Koby or smoker instead of Luffy LOL
I mean, hey, nothing is impossible, but if you are all okay with that happening in future, it will be the same hahaha. We all know how Oda loves wanking Roger, it will all circles and turn around and ends up with Roger here. Not taking anything away from garp, he probably scholded the commanders, or even helped in defeating Xebec with Roger in a team up, but regardless, Roger imo is the one who finished the job and garp took credit just like how Smoker-crocodile event was accredited to Smoker and both Smoker and Garp are pissed about it

it was a tag team fight, both roger and garp . roger needed help to defeat some of his rivals as luffy is doing currently. garp looks way to beat up to be taking credit for something he didnt do.
when luffy spoke to bigmom, his name didnt point her to dragon at all but garp. people underselling garp's achievements again even coming from a credible source like sengoku who wouldnt hide details from marines. he isnt speaking to the common folk. The wg and top marines knew crocodile was defeated by luffy but the common folk dont. here its different. sengoku is telling you what happened, not some fodder on the street.
