Speculations Who Harald would have chosen to rule Elbaf ?

and he wanted to give the crown to someone purer

who did he talk about ? Hajrudin ? Saul ? Who ?

Hajrudin is probably better for the direction he wanted Elbaf to go towards. Not only is he the prince but he's probably more calm and diplomatic than Loki is.

I think he had Hajrudin in mind as his successor but the guy couldn't take the throne even after Harald died and Loki ran off (and later got imprisoned for good). I think there is more to Elbaf politics than what we have been shown since we don't know anything of the Heaven realm and ancient giants are non-existent. There must be a powerful group opposing Hajrudin. I guess Harald was sure nobody would have dared to contradict him after he secured the WG membership

It really is a pity Harald and Loki barely interacted. Harald, more than anybody else given his rogue past, should have been able to understand him and look beyond Loki's outer shell

Well those are rough edges that could get smoothed out as he matured and realized what Harald wanted for their nation.

Saul seems more of an advisor. I think Harald might have been the kind of guy to let the people pick among themselves tbh.

Hajrudin is a good pick as he was and Loki is him but Harald was an absentee dad and I think he seemed too distant from his sons to properly mentor them.

Hajrudin is the better choice here, he is actually someone who can have a reasonable conversation without using force. He is also well respected even though not fully accepted by everyone. Loki on the other hand is a menace, kinda crazy. They see Loki as their own kind, but they feared him and has bad reputation. Harald knows his kids well, so he wanted them to work together, have Hajurdin as the king and have final say on everything because everyone trusts him, and have Loki work along side so Elbaph won't be divided.

It would still be Loki, Harald was missing from homeland most of the time but he always treated Hajrudin and Loki the same way. Maybe it could have been Hajrudin.

Harald probably wanted both Hajrudin and Loki to rule together. That’s probably why he summoned them and Jorul as witness of this declaration

I could see him choosing successor purely on merit and even organizing elections instead of defaulting to an eldest son. Would be in line with his ethos.

He actually changed over time, from being hated (though still beinf hated), grew up on Ida.
Ida changed ways of Harald so why not loki as well.

It was Hajrudin. It wouldn't be people like Saul, Dorry, Brogy, or others from the older generations, Harald wanted someone younger... and Hajrudin's dream is actually becoming the "King of the Giants". I don't think we'll get any more confirmation than this (see chapter #715)...

Loki is also an undeniable candidate, but I don't think that he aims to be the King of Elbaf. As we saw in the Rocks flashback, he wanted to be Rocks-like pirate... it's the complete opposite way.
