Character Discussion Who has progressed the most as a character ? Who has regressed the most ?

#5
Akainu, Kizaru and Kuzan have progressed a lot IMO.

They went from red cunt, sociopath monke and token good teammate to genuinely interesting morally grey characters in the short time they've appeared onscreen.

Hopefully Issho and Aramaki will also get the same care.

Regression - Sanji and Usopp are slaves to their gags. Luffy can act a bit asinine too, well more than usual.

Progressed the most is probably Kizaru. Man went from uninteresting neutral bloke to outbursting gigachad when he screams at Akainu through the den den mushi. Shit's great. What's even better is that Akainu didn't bark back in return like he did with Fujitora but he outright said, "Sorry bro, my bad." Kizaru responds with, "Bruh". Love it.

Regressed the most, Chopper or Usopp.

Honestly Kizaru went from Celestial Dragon servant trash to a real human being in just a few chapters. It seems he as well as most other higher ups are serving out of a genuine fear for their life, all except Akainu who knows he is too indispensable to be just killed off. The high ranking Marines have a ton of potential as characters to explore the dynamic of the choice between serving a corrupt system and letting the world go to chaos.

Chopper and Usopp both suck
But Usopp seems to get some funny development in this chapter

Progress the most = has little to none details about them at first, and now has so much more details about them.

So obviously Sanji. We even got small random details about him (like his lighter's blueprint & backstory) and several details that most other characters don't have (like his family's story).

He also has the most blatant personality change too (willing to ask for help, willing to let women be in danger, feels worthy).

Yes, I also think that the admiral trio had a really good characterization. Kizaru especially surprised me, didn't expect anything of him and now he's contending for one of the most interesting characters among marines.

SHPs all regressed imo due to flanderization, except for maybe Robin. And yes, I like Sanji and find his character development quite interesting, but in the last arcs he's asking to be a dog and wondering how you can screw up a giantess, talk about some dire flanderization.
