In my eyes he is just a pretty strong bad guy who takes anything he wants with sheer power while Mingo is "strong" for OP standards and a smart sleazebag without honor at the same time.

Kaidou's strength certainly served to boost his career, I can't deny that, and it's admirable to see the position that Doffy, someone who started out weak as a child but received support from many (members of his family), managed to reach the status of Shichibukai and become a great tool in Kaidou's business in which he acted briefly as a merchandise seller, however in terms of intelligence he does not beat Kaidou, Kaidou created, organized and led a military power that dominated the seas for decades and that is not as small as dominate a country and do business in the underworld.

The government was eating out of Kaidou's palm by going to negotiate directly with Orochi, requesting Vegapunk who could create lunar clones for Kaidou, ancient giants, who knows what might happen.

He literally says on panel that he does not give a shit who his leader is and what his ideals or goals are, as long as he gets to murder.

"Blood" is the single thing driving Lucci. It doesn't get more simple than that, stop overcomplicating a very straightforward character.

During the period when Kaidou recruited King in PH, he didn't even know about the legends of Joyboy; he had never heard of them. This means that he wasn't thinking he was Joyboy at that time. His first encounter with the historical fairy tales of Joyboy was when an adult King told him that he thought Kaidou could be Joyboy. It was King who suggested this, not Kaidou, who just laughed it off.

Another important fact is during Kaidou's flashback of defeat, when he says that Joyboy would be the one to take him down. This once again validates that throughout all these years, Kaidou never believed that he was Joyboy at any point. King thinking of Kaidou as Joyboy is different from Kaidou thinking he is Joyboy.

And this is DR only, the guy controls slave auctions all around, produces bootleg devil fruits and distributes it along with other weaponry to fuel wars.

The way he humiliated Bellamy, someone who looked up to him and tried to please him, is just off the charts

Kaido wasn't really "Evil" per say.

The real question should be, who was the true puppet master.

The man who killed his way into power and ruled out in the open, or the man who schemed his way into power, and ruled from the shadows.

Kaido played Orochi like a fiddle, which was always interesting to me as to why, when he had the power to take over by force, and bend the Country to his will. He's not as dumb as people think he is. It's a shame he never got the flashback he deserved, that would have put his character into perspective. Oda dropped the ball hard with that.

IMO, Crocodile and Doffy would be a better comparison. Crocodile did some heinous shit in Alabasta and was about to bomb 1,000,000+ people as the cherry on top of all his fucked up machinations.
