I think Itachi's plan was bad, he should have rejected the deal cause anyone else would have a lot of trouble removing the Uchiha either way. He caused Sasuke endless pain.

Ace easily the better brother, he physically saved Luffy's life.

Rejecting the deal means the entire clan dies, including his brother.

Negotiations weren’t succeeding, this was the end result if Itachi didn’t intervene.

The Uchiha were powerful, they’d of been a serious threat to Konoha but I don’t see them winning. A clan of maybe a few hundred versus a village that fields multiple Kage level Shinobi, the strongest Kage of the era (Hiruzen) and it can field 10k Shinobi without the Uchiha.

Yeah, and that was the point when every normal character would go up in arms with his family. Cause they have a better chance of survival against random ass shinobi after being warned, than a surprise night butchering by two of their strongest clansmen.
