Who is the weakest?

In naruto so far we know that there are 4 ninjas who can use SM. They are naruto, jiraiya, kabuto, and hashirama.

I will consider them as:
- sm naruto when he fought pain (with pa)
- sm jiraiya when he fought pain (with ma n pa)
- sm kabuto when he fought itachi n sasuke (karin, jugo, suigetsu, 4 sound, orochimaru cells inside his body)
- sm hashirama when he fought madara

How will you rate them from strongest to weakest?
Imo it would be:
1. Hashirama
2. Kabuto
3. Jiraiya
4. Naruto

I rate jiraiya higher than naruto because jiraiya is more versatile and he is so experienced. He also seems has many jutsus and more expert in frog-based jutsu. The only reason naruto could defeat the first 5 pain is because pain tendo cant use his jutsu. If pain tendo could use his jutsu, i think naruto would be defeated worse than jiraiya was, with also considering jiraiya's battle place is more advantage than naruto's.

So whatdo you think? How will rate you them? And what is the reason?

SM Hashirama (senpou mokuton shinsuusenju :steef:).

Don't forget Minato. But SM is not his forte however since he can activate the mode alone (without Pa and Ma) and doesn't have an ugly face that means he have a better control than Jiraya.

So SM Minato is between Jiraya and Naruto (Minato is overall stronger than PA Naruto but in SM Naruto is better).

#1 is Hashirama who’s Sage Mode could mid diff two EMS Madara’s.

#2 is Dragon Sage Kabuto due to his sheer versatility and great speed feats.

#3 is Pein Arc Naruto, who’s able to maintain a strong SM without outside help. He can only keep it for 5 min is the issue. Replace this with Late—War arc Naruto and he’s easily #2.

#4 Jiraiya who sucks.

#5 Minny who sucks more.

If we are to compare the SM users presented in Naruto manga(Jiraya, Minato, Naruto, Hashirama, Kabuto), tbh the issue of SM has always been presented since the beginning to be the time it takes to build the chakra, and how long you have to maintain it

It's just that some of them manage to enter SM with the right amount of senjutsu chakra faster than others or use alternative to make them look better in using SM than others

Even Hashirama was taking time to enter SM against Madara during his VOTE battle. How long he had to maintain the form in a single usage was never visible because unlike most SM users, Hashirama doesn't need to engage people in close combat to fight. He is always on top of his large mokuton techniques, fighting in his stead and thus naturally allowing him to continuously gather natural energy(you could see he was most of the time maintaining the sign to gather natural energy while fighting on top of his Shinsuusenju here)





Which is the same sign Jiraya was maintaining when trying to use his summon as distraction



The main difference though is that Hashirama could enter it faster, and as mentioned due to him possessing large mokuton constructs(due to his large amount of chakra) hard to fight against, it grants him time to maintain the SM state as much as he wants

Even Kabuto who took advantage of Juugo's natural ability to constantly absorb natural energy(allowing him to maintain the state) needed to use his snake as distractions to enter the mode at the beginning






Looking at this then, it makes sense why Minato who was known for finishing his battles in a flash wouldn't ressort to SM directly unless in a position where it was absolutely needed(like against Jubidara where senjutsu was needed to hurt him). The weakness he brought up to explain why he doesn't use SM generally is a general weakness brought up by Pa, that Naruto also had during the Pain arc

As Fukasaku says, Pain arc Naruto could only maintain it for 5 minutes at most at the time, and to enter SM, some allies could be needed due to the amount of time it takes while following the "don't move" principle, making you an easy target. Yet Minato can enter it on his own, when Fukusaku implied Jiraya couldn't

It's just that Jiraya's way of going around it was the sage amphibian technique allowing him to maintain the state as much as he wanted

Something that Pain arc Naruto couldn't use because he didn't befriend the Kyubi yet, but which isn't the case anymore. And in case of Minato, who wasn't a jinchuriki before the 9 tails attack, should be able to take advantage of this to maintain the state as well

Kabuto's version of way around as mentioned was using Juugo's natural ability to constantly take in natural energy, but i'd say the extra advantage Naruto has is that by the war arc, by befriending Kurama, it allowed him to enter SM faster. On the other hand, a disadvantage Jiraya has over the rest is that he isn't perfect SM user, but he is the closest to be one(only small frog features).

Though there are times where Kabuto was also displaying some snake features while entering SM, making you wonder if he really was a perfect SM user himself

So overall, i'd say that in terms of SM skill

While taking outside measures into consideration(Juugo's ability to constantly absorb natural energy, Fukasaku / Shima's sage amphibian technique), it'd look more this way

In-character Minato wouldn't use that method unless absolutely needed though, but potentially he could be there if he were to use it
