Sanji is in the Monster Trio, one of the Wings, one of the trusted men of Luffy, and has higher authortity.

Was literally her Captain at one point.

Has had 2 arcs devoted to him

Has had far too many character moments to count

Was on the volume cover of Volume 100

Was there when Luffy redeclared his dream

Literally saved and recruited both sides of the Allaince ( Minks and Samurai ), and made them indebted to him


But yh sure Nami is more important

For pre-skip it was the order the Strawhats joined, broadly, that determined importance. Only outlier would be Robin above Chopper, so maybe the order the Strawhats were introduced would be a more accurate description. And more of an emphasis on the East Blue Strawhats than the others.

Post-skip? Not so clear cut. The Strawhat split, the emergence of Law, Sanji being boosted while Nami gets neglected, the pre-skip order’s been heavily disrupted. We’re getting bigger arcs with more characters and less Strawhats (sometimes no Strawhats). That has changed things a lot.

Like, pre-skip, someone says to you “there’s going to be an eighty chapter arc focusing on Sanji. What other Strawhat will be heavily involved?”

I’d say 99% of readers would have said “obviously Zoro.” Instead he’s not even in the arc.

So for Wano at least, it’s Luffy, then Zoro, then Sanji. That’s quite clearly reflected in the panel time, which is not a perfect metric, but is quire good at briadly showing who’s been focused on.

nami was right hand on whole cake. The crew is luffy captain, zoro right hand and nami left hand. sanji is the cook and fighter but nami is more important than him
