Character Discussion Who was handled worse?BM or Kaido?Let's take a look

#1
In Terms of on-screen presence/being a Threat:
I will ignore BM in Wano because i still see no sense Oda used BM in Wano

BM:She was written as unstoppable Force in WCI,unable to defeat her at this point, while running away was the only option for the Maincast. The only way to survive and escape WCI were a plotarmor mode and a Plan,in this case the take.Otherwise, their was no option

Kaido: In personally never had the feeling he has the upper Hand and the control over the Main Cast.Pretty bad written as being a big Threat for the Main.I mean,he barely did something in like 100 Chapter.Shoulnd the Mainvillain of the Arc do more to show hes the big deal?Yeah 100%,but he didnt. In general the BP´s did barely anything

In Terms of Lore:

BM: BM had a good a fine Flashback. The Giantstuff and Mother Caramell.Had a problem with Luffy since FMI as he told her he will kick her ass.And by ruined the wedding.Their was a connecten

Kaido: The Flashback were 4 pages long and the only thing we got were to see how he looked as a Kid and then as a Teenager.Wow,impressive.Their was barely a connection with Luffy. In fact,Kidd has a bigger connection with Kaido.

In Terms of Character:

BM: Was pretty much consistent by ruling the WCI with fear and even killing her children.Had always something for candys as we know since FMI and that was even a Theme of WCI.

Kaido: Oh boy,he was introduced as someone who wants to start a War and his Maingoal was to die.For what reason? No Idea, was never told. Then it was claimed hes ruthless and told on-screen he wants to break the spirit/will/w/e of his prisoners .To bad you dont break anything when the Warden just dances and Kaido himself is doing nothing.Later he told that he will rip off Ruffys head.Well,in the end he just kicked him from Oni.Then it was told he wanted to be Joyboy. Why?Was also never told us.Half of his goals was never explained and his Character got retconned again by always saying "This is fun"

In think Kaido was handled far Worse and was really just a Traintool for Luffy

Let me say this 1st. What caught my eye wasn't your title it was your Yugi-oh card. Man those were some of my best days lol.

As for your topic here. Yes Kaido could have been the best Antagonist that faced the SHs. But sadly he turned out to be "Zoro". Just another brute with a vague story and a mystery behind him and his only drive is becoming the "Strongest".

I think, even if it's shallow, the cool factor also has a lot to do with it. Big Mom is some fat old ugly hag at the end of the day, and she does fail and get tricked easily, even losing memory ect but I guess you don't expect that much of her. With Kaido he was hyped up as some edgy super cool evil guy but at the end felt kinda meh and just like a punshing bag but I dunoo, maybe I havent thought enough about this topic to give a good take.
Lets just hope they dont mess up Blackbeard too😂

I think Kaido was handled well, he was known to be the strongest creature alive and he looked that way to me. As for his character, there were some good and some bad, Oda lost too much time wanking Oden and the samurai to have more time for the villains anyway.
But then again it was mostly his strength that he was known for and he lived up to that imo.
Oda actually rarely takes time to develop Luffy's main opponent, we didn't see much of Arlong past aside from what we saw in Nami's flashback, we knew nothing of Don Krieg, nothing of Crocodile who was the first warlord defeated in the story, nothing of Enel, nothing of Lucci, etc...
I personally wasn't expecting any flashback for Kaido, we had a short one and we saw a few things about him during other character's flashbacks.

As for Big Mom, she didn't really look strong to me, she seemed to have good durability in WCI and beginning of Wano but it went away when she started fighting Kidd and Law.
She is the type of character likes though, that's probably why she had a flashback and came in Wano and also why he clowns her. He likes to have fun with some characters.

I hope people don't expect flashbacks and character's development once the Straw Hats fights the WG and Marines. The only one that might have a proper one is Blackbeard (not even sure though, Oda might just reveal why he can have multiple DFs and where he comes from).

big mom never seemed that powerful to me and her flaws were pretty apparent quite early. Just from her character design i assumed she would be a slow tank type character. And that's exactly what she ended up being. I felt no tension from her in wholecake

Also this is not that much about BM vs Kaido but WCI vs Wano presence. If entire SH crew + 5000 samurai + Scabbards + Law + Kidd + Marco was present in WCI bet BMP won't look as threatening. I mean see what oda did with them in Wano

Reverse and only have half the SHs on wano and same effect will be achieved

Big Mom got beaten by Law and Kidd. she definently got the worst treatment but to play devils advocate Big Mom had way better Crew and Hype. They were both lame though.

Big Mom

She was embarassed by low ranking high tiers at a certain point and she admitted how harsh it was to deal with Marco without her homies and she was defeated by two unexperienced and semi skilled novae :josad:

Excluding Big Mom’s treatment in Wano makes it Kaido by default.
Big Mom was actually very interesting in WCI and was a major driving force right from the start.

Kaido basically took the back seat for the start of the arc, Orochi outshined him in villainy, and then Big Mom also took some of the spotlight (despite the bad treatment she received) in Act 3 as well.
