I feel like the Monkey and Davy Families are basically a lock. And if we're going with the "Two D's Making the Moon" theory, those MIGHT be the two main ones. If they don't turn out to basically be two branches of the same family, anyway. These two are probably our two "main" D Families. Two families who have been feuding in the background of this story for centuries. The equivalent of the Hatfields and the McCoys.

But, I could see there being more. Frankly, I wouldn't be all that surprised if there were 20 D Families, just to parallel the 20 Celestial Dragon Families. There's certainly enough characters to fill out such a roster with ancestors.

Although, it's notable that Imu was shocked that Lili had the D initial. So, it's not strictly something that's hereditary, it's more of a symbol of opposition to the World Government. Supposedly, ANYONE can take up the D initial, if they choose. But, you do also inherit it. But, that's more like Inherited Will, rather than something you're born with. Still, it's a fun idea. So, let's go with the idea that there's 20 families.

The Portgas and Trafalgar Familes are two of the best bets there. Law's popular enough that Oda probably would want to design his ancestor in a Void Century flashback. And a Portgas ancestor would help flesh out Rouge's history a little.

Jaguar is pretty likely. As are the Clou Family. Might as well through in the Gol Family, too at that point.

I'm not sure if the Nefertari Family counts as a "original" D? Since they seemed to have adopted the D initial later than most. But, it still stretches back to the Void Century. So, we might as well count them.

So, that would bring us up to 8 D Families. Assuming we want 20 Families, who are people who would be fun to be revealed to secretly have the D initial? Who could be our other 12 Families?

Well, let's start with the Strawhats.

The Shimotsuki/Roronoa Family would make some sense. They're descended from Ryuma. That just tracks.

The Nico Family would make sense. If the Clou Family makes it in, I think the Nicos should, too.

Nami's original Family would make sense. Especially if it turns out she has some sort of special lineage. I'm counting her family.

Would the Vinsmoke, Usopp, Jinbe, or Cutty/Franky Families make sense to be D Clan members? Hmm...well, I can take it or leave it quite frankly. I'll include them if I can't think of anyone better and need to fill things out. But, otherwise, meh.

Brook's family is probably out. It seems like he was some sort of royal guard or something for the Celestial Dragons, if his history with Gunko is any indication. So, I don't think all of the Strawhats need to be secret D's.

Chopper is a reindeer. I...don't think reindeer were let into the D Clan, I'm sorry. But, as a consolation...I do think it's possible the Kureha Family could secretly be D Clan Members. Doctor Kureha did seem to know a little about the subject, after all.

Hmm...do I want Fisher Tiger or the "Poseidon" Royal Family to have the D? Fisher Tiger probably has more of their rebellious spirit, but the Mermaid Royals have a bigger role to play with the Ancient Weapons. It feels wasteful to do both. I guess I'm going with the "Poseidon" Royal Family. I just think they likely have a greater tie to the Void Century.

And if we're doing the "Poseidon" Royal Family, I suppose it only makes sense for the Kouzuki to also be included. Momo seems to have ties to the Ancient Weapon Pluton. So, I think that likely makes sense.

The Edward Family (Is Whitebeard's "family" name Edward or Newgate?) could be likely. It's another recognizable name. I could see Whitebeard getting the D posthumously.

Same goes for the Charlotte Family. They're a big enough player, they could be involved.

I'm not sure about Kaido. I could see it, but I'm not sure. Maybe instead of Kaido directly, I'll say that the "Oars" Family are all secretly D Clan members. It's possible that Kaido and Oars and Little Oars Jr are all distantly related. For the moment, I'll group them all into a Family together.

Buggy? Yeah. Buggy's getting in. I don't see any reason not to include him. Although, I have heard some interesting arguments that Buggy could secretly be a Nefertari. So, we'll see.

The Figarland Family? No. That's a Celestial Dragon Family. The bloodlines may cross, but I don't want the Original 20 D Families to overlap with the 20 Celestial Dragon Families.

The Mont Blanc Family? Yeah, they can get in. "Liar" Noland was a big enough part of the story to justify it. Plus, a ancestor would be instantly recognizable from the chestnut on their head.

What about Sakazuki/Akainu? I do love the irony of one of the Admirals turning out to have the D. And Sakazuki would be the most impactful one. So, I think I'm going for it. There's not enough room to make ALL the Admirals secret Ds. But, just for Akainu? Sure.

Louis Arnote? Hmm...well, he might end up playing a bigger part in the story later. But, for right now, nah.

The Eustass Kidd Family? Nah. Just like life, I'm snubbing them. Same goes for the Capone, Bartholomew/Kuma, Bartolomeo, Basil, Scratchman, X Drake, Killer, and Urouge Families. I got to draw the line somewhere, and the line seems to be the Supernovas. I could see myself making a exception for Cavendish, due to his weird unexplained split personality possibly being a hint about him being special. We'll see.

Dracule Mihawk? Hmm...maybe. I could see Mihawk ending up with more connections to the Celestial Dragons than the D Clan, though.

Boa Hancock? Hmm...well, the Amazons do seem to have some connection to the ancient. They might not be D Clan, though. They might be something else.

Crocodile? Well...I'm going to say no. But, we'll see. We no so little about him. And the Warlords in general are a weird mix of D Clan, Celestial Dragons, and others. So, maybe he's just one of the "others".

I'm going to save time and just say I doubt most of the Blackbeard Pirates are secretly major D Clan members. Maybe they'll turn out to be, but I think Blackbeard likes being the "most important" one in the group. Chances are most of them are nobodies. The one exception I could see is maybe Lafitte, if only because he's so mysterious. But, I doubt it.

Koby? Well, we don't know much about him. And it would be a interesting twist. But, I like Koby and Luffy being on opposite sides too much for them to be too closely related. I'm doing to say no.

Loki/Harald? Hmm...that would be interesting. But, again, I think I'm lumping them in with the "Oars" family, just to save room. Even though, they could be a separate family, like the "Poseidon" and Kouzuki Families.

Big News Morgans? Hmm...I do like that. But, we're out of room. So, I'm putting him in my "backup" guesses.

Wapol? I'm going to say no. It'd be a interesting twist, but his family seems like the version of the Nefertari who never had the guts to take the D, even in secret.

Enel? Nah. I don't think Enel's Family even knew what was going on down below them.

Foxy? Heh. I'd enjoy that. The fanbase would be furious. I'm putting it in my backup guesses.

Jango? Again, that'd be a lot of fun. But, also again, we're out of room.

Miss Goldenweek/Marianne? I do think she's going to end up being more important than we might think, especially her Color Trap power. Probably having some tie to the Abyss Mark system. But...nah.

Tom the Shipwright? Now, there's a interesting possbiiity! But, we already have our Fishaman representative on the list. So...he's going in backups.

So, my best bets for the "20 D Clan Families" are:

Most Important: Monkey and Davy.

Almost Certain: Trafalgar, Portgas, Jaguar, Clou, and Gol.

Probably: Nefertari.

Maybe?: Shimotsuki/Roronoa, Nico, "Nami", Kureha, "Poseidon", Kouzuki, "Oars", Edward, Charlotte, "Buggy", Mont Blanc, and Sakazuki.

And the rest:

Backups: Dracule, Cavendish, Capone, Boa/Amazons, Laffitte. Urouge, Crocodile, Bartholomew/Kuma, Big News Morgans, Foxy, Jango, and Tom.

Nah: Eustass, Figarland, Chopper, Vinsmoke, Usopp, Cutty/Franky, Jinbe, Brook, Louis Arnote, Scratchman, Bartolomeo, Basil, X Drake, Killer, Koby, Wapol, Enel, and Marianne.

That's how I see it at the moment, anyway. Chances are, Oda's still going to introduce a few hundred more characters before we get to the Void Century flashback. Chances are, there's still some important families we haven't even met yet.

The Shimotsuki/Roronoa Family would make some sense. They're descended from Ryuma. That just tracks.
There is no wano clans that are D. Or hidden D
oda made it clear enough in wano the samurai clans fought and sided with D. Family against imu

so if zoro was happened to be a D. It would be from roronoa lineage/family who has nothing to do with shimotsuki or wano. After all roronoa are from east blue and zoro grandapa married into one of the samurai clans. So yh ryuma isn't a D.

Reminds me when people was pushing kozuki are hidden D. And people are still pushing to this day on twitter
so yh i dont think there wano clan who is a hidden D.

also shanks mother lineage is one of the important clans of D
thats why shanks is the child of destiny

In Monsters damnation, Ryuma was known as Ryuma De King.

Remember when Roger was called Gold Roger before it was revealed that his real name was Gol. D. Roger?

What if...? :pepepopcorn:

I'm not sure if anyone could take the D initial. It's easy to think that they're completely unrelated as there's a giant among the D (Saul), but I think that they do have a common ancestor (not necessarily Joy Boy or Davy Jones). Since giants can have children with humans, it's plausible that their common ancestor is a giant (then one branch generated the Joy Boy and Davy families, who themselves generated many other branches, and the other stayed "pure" like the Jaguars?).

The Nefertari seem to be D's from the start; what they actually did was hiding the name, just like Clover and Law did for themselves. I'm betting on them as one of the main families, since Lili seems to be very important to Imu.

About the others, most of them seem to be unlikely to be D's... only Nico seems to be a strong case IMO. The Charlottes looked like nobodies prior to Linlin (her parents looked like a regular noble couple, just like Sabo's parents). Pretty much the same applies to almost everyone else. And yes, Edward is the family name.

There is no wano clans that are D. Or hidden D

also shanks mother lineage is one of the important clans of D
thats why shanks is the child of destiny
Shanks would be even scarier being half D, half CD, but I doubt it. Garling has too much prejudice to marry a D carrier IMO, it's more likely that Shanks' mom was a regular noble from God Valley.
