Like, they've already had a precursor fight - it's clear that only characters as strong as he (or stronger) can fight P1. Which rules out all of the SHs except Luffy and Zoro

Okay, but who said it had to be Sanji's last fight of the arc? There's nothing to say he can't fight someone like Queen or Drake etc.

But based on R1 there has to be R2

I’d prefer that Oda doesn’t throw away enemies to one sided beat downs but it could happen. Usopp vs P1 is the F6 vs SH matchup I’m the least confident about since their fighting styles don’t mesh well

You're making conclusions too soon lol.
It is still at the beginning of the war, calm the spirits, it is still clear as the sun that the tobbi roppos will be opponents of the weaker mugiwaras

Option One- Chopper + Ussop. Seems to be the youngest of the Beast Pirates, stick him with the youngest Strawhat and Ussop cause they usually make a good team.

Option Two- A Scabbard, but tbh nobody stands out as a enemy for him. Kin and Raizo already have opponents lined up. Ditto Neko and Inu with Jack. Kiku, you'd presume, would fight one of the girls given Oda is Oda. The other three seem too strong given their hype. Maybe Izo?

Waste of panel time and the character having Sanji do it again, I've already seen one chapter of it that gave us more than enough of an idea how the fight would go.

Aren’t the 5 Scabbards in Law’s submarine being set up to job to Kaido?

I’m assuming that the Scabbards will beat the Numbers, Kanjuro, and Fukurojuku and then all of them will confront Kaido together and lose

I also think that's very likely, but it's still up in the air. I expect and want the main figures in defeating the Beast Pirates to be Strawhats, but there's still the possibility Oda goes the other way around and has the Strawhats be bit part players in the Scabbard's stories. I'd despise it, but it could happen.

If background characters once again get the spotlight over the SHs, especially in what is supposed to be the arc that ends the 400 chapter long Kaido and BM plots, then I will think that Oda has become a bad writer.

As I said before, it makes no sense thematically for the Scabbards to fight the F6 when the F6 weren’t even there 20 years ago. Also spoilers for 982:

If Oda wants Scabbards vs F6 to happen then why not have Denjiro actually fight Sasaki in this chapter instead of tying him up?
