I see literally no reason for kid to do anything on screen because he is not relevant to anything. Most of his character development/feats will happen off-screen as they have in the past. If he was Luffy's rival it would be different but we know that is not the case. Therefore, there is no reason to give him comparable development to compete with luffy. Thus, someone like sanji who is part of the strawhats should take more precedence than an irrelevant character like kid.
