Luffy never had to reign Zoro in because he walk the line as an independent man and a loyal subordinate perfectly. It's allways been my theory that Luffy fought Zoro on whiskey peak because he felt threatened by Zoro or more accurately wanted proof that he was clearly distinct and superior to Zoro.

Zoro was fighting Hachi and Sanji kicked the first mate through the building. Luffy then chopped the building in half with Arlongs head. Sanji was also the first person in the crew to disappear from sight with speed.

In alabasta Zoro was trying to cut steel while Sanji and Luffy were being creative in how to hit their opponents. In skypeia Sanji was creating crazy amounts of momentum hitting his opponent with as much force as possible.

And for Zoro trying to cut steel, Zoro was using Haki pre time skip unconsciously, He had the perfect arsenal to deal with crocodile , Whereas Luffy took multiple L's and Gimmick like water was used as Haki alternative. Give up , if Luffy was against Mr.1 he loses. He has no counter to slash attacks.
Think about it Sanji hit bonclay and had him spinning into a building and Luffy was spinning himself for gonu gomu no storm. Sanji used concasse shot against a priest and Luffy spun his arm for gomu no rifle. Both were breaking through tenkai on enis Lobby and both were knocking around oars on thrillerbark. Both had continous modes in alabasta thst they could sustain while Zoro was oneshoting people eith ashura.

Lmao , Every fight Luffy has won in a 1v1 , Zoro does it better with less difficulty.

Zoro did better than Post 1010 Luffy with Adcoc until he went drowning.
He unlocked AdCoC giving his AP a boost. Which is comparable to G4 with Adcoc which again got Bonked by Kaido.
KoH is simple Zoro on beast mode with AdCoC , G5 material here.
