Oda was planning these 3 to be the final Emperors for a long time as we see him replicating the same old cover:



Meanwhile BM and Kaido were silhouettes, Oda didn't even decide their designs before:



Kaido and BM represented the special power of Emperors but in terms of story telling, their jobs was to be place holder for more important Emperors Buggy, Shanks and Teach. They are in bigger panels than even Imu:



There is also many circumstances that leads to Buggy getting his Emperor position due to Blackbeard's and Shanks's actions





Buggy before gave up on his dreams because of Shanks's superior power:



Now he leads Mihawk, Croco, and other pirates to One Piece because he follows Shanks:



This panel from Teach, Buggy and Shanks wasn't a coincidence as well:



And here's how Teach's actions help Buggy and Luffy before:



Magellan blocks the level 2 floor.



Buggy and his men can't do anything about it until Teach saves them:

Great thread thanks for tagging me man.

Buggy and Blackbeard are both foils and closely related to Luffy and Shanks in their own ways ofc, so this is definitely the most natural direction for Oda to go in and thus assumption for us to make too.

You only gotta look at the absolute chaos Blackbeard and Buggy both helped to cause in Impel Down and Marineford, especially Blackbeard, being a walking catastrophe, a self made human disaster upon the world.

I do think Blackbeard will become that giant demonic thing in the mural but someone else thought Blackbeard might be the "darkness hiding" at the top of the mural and either would be fine to me. Imu could be the giant demon thing but if Imu is not the sea devil somehow then it should be Blackbeard too.

I love all the parallels and influences on each other that these new Yonkos have, that you masterfully pointed out and reminded us. It really helps to show how much the story was originally planned and being laid out now before Shuiesha forced Oda to fluff out the story immensely.

As Oda himself said before the final saga started, "you can start reading from now, the real story is beginning now". Paraphrasing him ofc but he did say those words, that exact meaning.

That's an excellent point about the new SBS info and thus Shiryu and Auger.

There's a reason Oda hasn't revealed the name of Lafitte's devil fruit yet too, how he has wings, how he hypnotises people. Maybe it could be linked to how Miss Goldenweek (who some people joke is more like Miss Gol D. Enweek and thus Roger's secret daughter or relative) could hypnotise and control others without explanation too.

As much as I am disappointed with most of the BBP's fruit reveals, I love Pizarro's though and the sheer potential of that fruit is INSANE, much like if Oda lets Blackbeard get awakenings as he should regardless and a 3rd fruit too ideally BUT also just letting Blackbeard fight all out on screen, combining both the Yami and the Gura brutally like he did to Law too and letting see how he literally scarred Shanks PERMANENTLY and just how much he's inherited Xebec's will and thus potentially his strength too somehow.

I feel Luffy, Blackbeard and Buggy are all sort of successors of Xebec in their own way, whereas Shanks is more of Roger's most ideal and thus deliberately chosen successor ofc. In fact, I saw a thread on Piratefolk recently on how Roger gassed up Shanks to be his successor, but this bred insecurity and thus an inferiority complex in Buggy and thus caused Buggy to outwardly, loudly spite Shanks even more.

Oda blatantly loves Blackbeard and Buggy as you pointed out and they both really drive the story forwards by their actions, they both remind us this is a pirate story regardless and originally and they both have been failing upwards and succeeding with cunning and charisma, being the underdogs who a lot of people underestimate and then end up regretting as they watch them grow in power and become actual, serious, world endangering threats.

There were 3 realms or ages mentioned in the mural IIRC thus implying 3 wars and thus 1 more, a 3rd war to come for the world, just like how IRL we have had talks of WW3 for decades now and it becoming an ever real looming thread lately especially.

Nika was said to be 3 things too, a liberator, a destroyer and appearing where the greatest transformations to the world will happen, this makes me think of Hinduism with Shiva and such, gods of creation, destruction and rebirth of the world, the cycle of creation and destruction, destruction is needed for change and thus creation is born destruction, recreation even, rebuilding.

I think Buggy represents the great transformation of the world which would reflect him being the genius/bombastic jester/clown, the flashy showmanship guy, blackbeard is obviously the destroyer and luffy is the liberator, the "hero" but funny how blackbeard is basically the most extreme form of freedom in the story aside from Xebec and he will truly make the world "Lawless" pun intended after his fight with Law haha but also he has a move called "Liberation" and I think hes the type to free people from anything including being slaves to fate itself and prophecy even if it means killing them to do so. The most brutal extremism and pragmatism in a way.

I'm probably rambling nonsense as per usual, but I'm just rapidly spitballing ideas as I think of them as always too. ADHD goes Brrrrrr lol.

I was supposed to mention I do like the theory that the reason the BBP have such simple and underwhelming fruits is not just because they could be following a theme of infiltration ands deception and thus being "saboteurs", disruptors lol BUT because with fruits that suit their fighting styles, their personalities so much, it gives a much better chance for them to awaken them and thus that conversation of Kaido with awakenings involving "the body and mind being in sync with the Devil fruit" or something like that, in harmony? Hence why he couldnt awaken his I guess, as his fruit was meant to be a guardian deity and thus noble?
