I really cannot get over how different Big Mom was when Younger, hell she seemed like a character with values lol. There had to be a reason to change so much, and perhaps like Fujitora they also have seen the truth of this world and it changed them for good? Perhaps the turning point was the defeat at God valley.

Linlin's mind was never close to a healthy one, she was too dangerous to be ordered around or under control, would act first and think later even with no bad intentions, but she never had to learn what's right or wrong. Instead, she had Carmel that allowed her to do anything she wanted and after that, Streusen who was all about showing her how she could do and get everything by force giving zero fucks to other people.

I don't know what character you guys are reading, but kid Linlin would use her strength to force animals into a closed cage because she didn't like their behavior nor would accept it, and once things didn't turn the way she wanted she over-punished the bear to the point of killing it. Meanwhile, old Linlin is hitting Page One with one of her strongest punches because he wouldn't share her morals, killing people for not coming to her Tea Parties, forcing giantification in order to achieve her vision of equality... among many other things which are basically the same as what she'd do as a kid: impose her morals and brutally subdue those who don't agree.

Because when an ordinary parent would stop in and say to Big Mom
a) you need to understand how much stronger you are than everyone else and control yourself
b) people are different and that’s a good thing
Carmel instead gave her carte blanche to do whatever the fuck she wants. Big Mom as a kid was just a fantastical version of a lot of kids people in the real world, who develop a bit quicker and don’t understand their own strength, and if they see someone with a disability or something they might point and say “what’s wrong with them?” She had nice instincts of wanting everyone to be happy and equal, but in always forgiving Linlin instead if scolding her it made Linlin think that she could do no wrong and is always right.
