Whats this everything you speak off? ''Muh black blade?'' something we know very little about except that its the peak of swordsmanship? What else points towards him being stronger then all other swordsmen in history?
Mihawk is the strongest swordsman, Whitebeard isnt a swordsman. Whitebeard was the WSM, Mihawk is a man.

In a year or two he would be under old legend category if he was alive.

Not at all. There was a small fight where no one win most likely. Had shanks defeated Kaido back then , he won't have the hype of one on one champ or his title of world's strongest which is based on his opinions about his power anyways. Why would the populace in general think Kaido is the strongest if he lost to shanks?

Nah. Kaido was challenging yonko single handedly. Kaido was building his strength and he knows the main enemies are WG and he needs ancient weapons to beat them.
