Speculations Why did neither Xebec nor Roger not have World’s Greatest Swordsman title?

Why don’t they have the title?

What if the WSS of an era is recognized when they forge a Black Blade? Think of it as a status symbol.

Ryuma and Mihawk are the only known WSS of their respective eras, and the only unusual thing they share is their Black Blades.

It's said that Ryuma's Black Blade was forged through his history of battle. I wonder if a sword can sense when its wielder has reached the undisputed peak of swordsmanship for their era, and, once satisfied, it turns black.

Zoro could achieve this by directly defeating Mihawk, and his three blades that aided him would be forged black.

In the previous era, the title may have been too contested: Roger, Xebec, Rayleigh, Shiki, Harald, Oden, and perhaps even Whitebeard. After all, WB wielded a Supreme Grade, and we know he and Roger fought to a draw. Some of these legends may never have fought each other decisively (more than a clash) or proven clear superiority.

Unlike Ryuma, who was undefeated, and Mihawk, who is known for his superior sword skills over Shanks.

But the weird thing is, Aramaki has a black blade and even if he didn't forge it someone had to forge it and that guy is still unknown
You'd think we'd know about someone that strong by now
Then again I guess an easy answer to that is that Mihawk just has a better sword and better swordsmanship than Aramaki

What title? WSM?
Xebec was confirmed to be the undisputed strongest of his generation. Above people like Garp and Sengoku. He still wasn't deemed WSM
To be quite honest, I think for that specific title, the Gura Gura no Mi definitely played a big role in it. We had people like Sengoku consistently talking about how Whitebeard can destroy the world because of it
The world strongest tile are in story based and not factual

Strong guy with the only black blade- wss
Strong guy with the most destructive df- wsm
Strong guy with a zoan- wsc

All swords are blades but not all blades are swords
Otherwise Gaban is a swordsman and we both know how stupid that sounds
I know I know it can sound completely silly

But frankly : Gaban cut down Sommers hands with a blade

Gaban has wind blade techniques

Gaban has 2 blades and is likely fucking skilled with it

You put Ray face instead of Gaban, a sword in his hand and you look at his feats and you won’t have any problem with this

It'll probably be revealed once we see Aramaki start using his sword. The way Zoro talked about Shusui when he first got it in TB suggested that more Black Blades are in circulation, just very rare.
