The evil Shanks theory is nice but it will never be true. As I see it Shanks is some kind if good pirate, like WB and unlike Kaido, also he wants to preserve the balance of the world aka avoid war aka spare the lives that can be spared and if Kaido showed up in his place at Marineford the war would have went on, actually restarted, with a way bigger casuality count.

About how he stopped him imo he did it using coc but that will be revealed later after Wano when Kaido will be beaten and Shanks and BB need some proper hype as EoS material.

He wanted to stop WB but Wb didn't listen.
So he went to stop Kaido first because the latter doesn't listen and wanted also to stop the war after that. But because of Kaido, he came late. So i believe if Kaido didn't interfere, Shanks would have came sooner and maybe saved Ace from Aka Inu.


So Ace fans and Luffy fans, wank Zoro to kill kaido to avenge ace's death

Shanks was a snitch from beginning he simply stopped Kaido so Kaido wouldn't be able to help save WB and destroy marines together with WBP but now they saying Kaido wanted to kill WB ...as for how he stopped Kaido, he probably gave him something special, like the missing Red Poneglyph or something

Shanks went to marineford because he knew blackbeard will take advantage of battles outcome, not because of ace or luffy. He is the main enemy of blackbeard in the series. The reason he stopped kaido is very simple, he didnt want anymore mess to deal with, addition to marines and blackbeard.
