Shanks the only Roger pirates crew who show concern for his captain son. Other Roger crew are shit... so much for aibo, you helping others but not your captain son? Aibo my ass
I wish Rayleigh could join Marineford, that might have saved Ace's life. Or that Garp could abide his Marine pride and go against Sakazuki without any restrain. A real shame imo.

Because Shanks is a kind man. He doesn't want Kaido to come to Marineford and murder everybody there:kayneshrug:
I think more like he is so kind he spared Kaido's life by not letting him enter such an hell :P

But I also wondered.. how many yonko commanders were leading to Mf along with Kaido exactly?

'Cause you can't simply stop a yonko if you can't stops his crew, this means it's the Red Hair Pirates to have stopped the Beast Pirates here.

The evil Shanks theory is nice but it will never be true. As I see it Shanks is some kind if good pirate, like WB and unlike Kaido, also he wants to preserve the balance of the world aka avoid war aka spare the lives that can be spared and if Kaido showed up in his place at Marineford the war would have went on, actually restarted, with a way bigger casuality count.

About how he stopped him imo he did it using coc but that will be revealed later after Wano when Kaido will be beaten and Shanks and BB need some proper hype as EoS material.
I don't think he will be evil but I beg to differ about him not being a morally grey antagonist. A "good" pirate doesn't have open discussions with the Gorosei, 5 men who commit genocide and cover up a 100 years of clear genocidal history. He also visited the Gorosei RIGHT after learning about Luffy's new "Yonko" status. Oda didn't have him mention Blackbeard to the Gorosei, but a "certain pirate".

I think we are in for a surprise about this character and his goals.

I would live One piece to turn into game of thrones but honestly you can expect a ton of stuff by Oda but not traitorous SH or even Shanks who is the ideal of Luffy, at the very best we will have Law betray Luffy but even that is very very doubtfull. Then Luffy too is a grey character like it is right for him to be, he is not an hero he is a pirate (like he said more than once) also Shanks doesn't talk to the Gorosei, Kaido(?), maybe even WB cause he wants to but because that is what he needs to try to keep peace. Simply speaking if instead of him Kaido or BB showed up at Marineford they wouldn't have think twice and bite the already wounded WB pirates and WG gained a lot at their expenses, Shanks did not do it.

Shanks seems like the peace and status quo type. He's not evil but he knows something and does not want to disrupt the power hierarchy. So he works for the evil WG, unwillingly. I don't have an answer to why he wants Luffy to become a pirate though.

But I think this is where Luffy and Shanks will come to a head. Shanks want order but Luffy wants absolute freedom of the sea.
