General & Others Why did Shiki respect Roger instead Xebec?

#22
Shiki even attacked Mary Geoise just because he heard about Roger's execution, saying that Roger was the spirit of every pirate. When he met Whitebeard, he also expressed his sadness when Roger died.

However, Shiki dont care if Rock is death. He even states if Rock would be death, it would make no difference, he wouldnt even blink an eye
Tbf we don’t know the circumstances of Rock’s death or how Shiki actually responded to it. Shiki also 24 years older when he attacked MF so he could have simply just evolved his worldview as he got older.

If Rocks had a death in befitting of his stature (Kaido implies this when he praises WB and Roger’s death but not rocks) it would even make more sense as to why Shiki wanted to spare Roger from a humiliating death (because he say it happen to a man even greater than Roger was)

It seems that Xebec was a massive a-hole, even to his own crewmembers... Shiki probably had to join his crew due to a Davy Back Fight or a duel (in other words, forcibly). In addition, not only Roger but Whitebeard too reached a greater status/strength than Xebec imo.

An ulterior motive for his disregard about his captain was that Shiki was young during the Rocks era. Could've been kinda like Ace when WB spared him after he tried to beat him for the first time.
That's not it. Shiki already stated that they are not dependent on Xebec, nor do they follow him. This is definitely not the Davy Back concept, where recruits must vow for allegiance to the new captain.
