Character Discussion Why do people take words about wings so seriously?

#7
It's the agendas of people in this forum.
Sanji fanboys act like like they're on the same level or that Sanji is more powerful or important.
Zoro fans act like Zoro is so far ahead of Sanji in terms of power that they can't even be compared.

Both are stupid and the whole "wings" comment is simply to highlight that they're Luffy's number 2 and 3, right and left hand, that's it.

She’s arguably the wisest and most observant crew member…but even if she wasn’t, her word still carries weight because she’s literally on the crew

The dynamic of Zoro/Sanji being Luffy’s top men, the leaders in his absence was ALWAYS understood by everyone besides haters. The fanbase loves this quote because it:

1. Confirms the M3 is never dissolving no matter who joins

2. A catchy title, it has a much better ring to it than what we used to call them: “the right hand and left hand of the PK”

It was Robin who said it, not some really important or legendary character whose words matter
Because it affirms the structure Oda has used since the crew began. Zoro takes on the number 2, and Sanji follows with the 3rd. Based on how the 2nd and 3rd strongest even for the villains are comparable in strength with the right hand being a bit ahead.

Oda speaks through the characters to give insight. That’s what story telling is.

Because Wingtards, their gatekeepers, and the obsolete M3 fanbois overhypes anything that makes Zoro and Sanji apart from the rest of the crew and close to Luffy, and it also gives them cope for the alleged threat of the so-called dynamic on Jinbe joining... Just like when Nami mentioned the M3...

Nevertheless, Wings are Wings...

Theres is the editor's note for chapter 1022, that also mentioned the wings

That statement settles up one of the most loved dynamics in the manga, it completes the story as a whole, it isn't some random stuff just thrown there for no reason.

Zoro and Sanji are one of the main and most famous characters right beneath Luffy, the main protagonist, you want people to simply ignore that?

And besides, volume 102 also mention the wings in action, the whole marketing around the release of volume 102 was literally all about Zoro and Sanji and the portrayal the manga has build for them for all these years.

They even made a quiz about how much do someone elses "brain" thinks like Zoro or Sanji

Jinbei joined and fought a flying six while the wings fought the top executives. I can understand why people would argue Jinbei was stronger than the wings before Onigashima but that ship has sailed.
It will even be reflected in the bounties

What most people truly missed/misunderstood about Wings is that this term doesn't revolve around strength/power, but contribution to Luffy (goal as PK).

1. Wings is a "title". People get titles via achievements.

2. Wings is an organ to allows a creature to fly and soar in the sky (above), as opposed to ground (below).
Ground means Luffy at the start.
Sky means Luffy's goal.
Wings helped Luffy to reach his goals.

So, even if Jinbe, Yamato, or Law joins and they're stronger than Sanji, they can't be called Luffy's Wings because they're not there since the start.

Wings means Zoro and Sanji will forever be close in power
If Zoro is FA level, Sanji will be Admiral level
If Zoro is Inbetweener, Sanji is top high tier or lower-Inbetweener

What should be an endearing comment gets drowned in toxicity by people trying to make Sanji out to be Zoro's equal and others trying to make Zoro out to be 100 times stronger

On one hand you have the people who can't say anything about Zoro without making sure to include their opinion that Sanji is a "99.9" to Zoro's "100," while on the other hand you have the people who can't even stand the notion of the two of them being mentioned together in the same sentence
