Controversial Why does it feel like every online anime community hates their anime nowadays?

I remember the old days reading comment section of Mangastream. People always bashed Fairy Tail for its nakama power up, excessive fanservice and how author hyped the villains only to ruin them later. Bashed Bleach for blank background (compared to One Piece lively background) and nothing much really going on each chapter. Didn't really read Naruto so don't know much about complains beside talking no jutsu and too much flashbacks.
But One Piece was always praised to oblivion, Goda, One Piece had so much going on in 1 chapter compared to 10 chapters of Bleach, Luffy is more likeable than Naruto blabla.

Now the table has turned. All shitting received by other manga, now One Piece does it.
Maybe except nakama power up because Oda still tries to make Luffy as an underdog forever.
Yeah, OP used to be good. Now it isn't.

It's funny to see people blame this on the fans, or create excuses like "fans grew up".

I got into OP 5 years ago, when I was 23 and had already watched many shounens.
Loved it till Dresrossa.
Clearly it isn't an age issue or experience/investment issue.

The quality really just started falling since Dresrossa.

Same thing with fairy tail. Was amazing till Tenrou, x791 was meh but had some greatness like Mard Geer and future Rouge.
x792 was pure unadulterated trash with Alverass. It isn't that fans changed, the quality of the series changed.
Blaming the fans for not eating it up is just cope.

I was shocked the first time I joined NarutoForums. Most of them had the opinion that Naruto is mediocre - they were more focused on the flaw of the manga - I was like how could they trash Naruto like this in NarutoForums. I guess thats what happens when people discuss a manga 24/7 over the years - it’s similar to whats happening in this forum with One Piece - people start to see the flaws more. Folks arent supposed to do a PhD on a manga written for 15 year olds - it was supposed to be read casually.
This pretty much summarizes it. This is why I don’t trash on Bleach for example despite it having far more glaring flaws because I just enjoy it casually without trying to read too much into it. I couldn’t be bothered to do a deep dive and slap all of these trope terms like Gary Stu or whatever onto a character. Never went that deep as a reader but I was more so dissatisfied with how things turned out. With One Piece rn it is what it is, if anyone is still trashing it after Wano with more than one paragraph of content you’re better off using that time and energy for something useful.

when people invest too much time on one entity or create an initial positive impression.
Either they become hardcore enthusiast and defend till their death to pretend that their time and thought was not wasted.
Or they hate that they invested so much time and effort on it but it has become disappointing with no redemption.

Either way suggests
1. the series is garbage
2. people don't want their experience anf time with it to be a wasted one.
3. Both categories desperately trying to validate their new path.

Have anime/manga just gotten bad or is it a problem with the fandom?
I observe the phenomenon with a lot of COOL stories (not just anime).

I think the over saturation of stories made people think that they know what is good and what is bad. While it might be true for some.. most fanbase are driven by expectations.. and mostly illegitimate ones. So they focus on that..

As a result, those people are unable to see what the authors are really writing. Sometimes very obvious stuff are missed. And they miss the reason why a good story is a good story.

You can be sure that if people had less access to stories, there wouldn't be so much critic. But it is what it is.. the only thing we can do is try to show why those stories, despite what "fans" may think are actually really good.

"omg its so ass"
"its mid"
"XYZ can not write anymore"

You are not part of the cool kids club if you do not pretend to dislike a story you were and continue to be invested in for years.
They need to convince themselves that the manga is beneath them. They are so much better and its an honor for Oda that they even touch it.
Because hey, which self respecting adult could like kids manga and read it all the way to the end??? Not us, oh no. Clearly not us.

Absolutely not true, most fandoms are ether positive about their favorite series or have some mild criticism, the only place you can find with actual criticism and harsh comments about their series is Worstgen forum, and it wasn't like this just few years ago. I was criticizing Oda way before it was trendy, and I was getting an insane amount of backlash from everyone. It started to change during Wano, and by the end of it people were so fed up with Oda's obvious BS that I wasn't getting attacked anymore for criticizing Oda, but instead I was getting likes. I also wanna point out that because most worstgen guys are also present in other Anime forums, and because of that you can find similar views there.
