It’s because a fight where the MC is stronger than the opponent can be boring. Unless it’s like One Punch Man where that’s the joke.

Plot Bullshit and friendship power can be very good when done right (Luffy vs Lucci) and really fucking bad when done poorly (90% Fairy Tail fights)

But he does defeat them so he fulfills his purpose. You probably are gonna get that moment against Blackbeard anyway since its set up to be 10 vs 10. I prefer for other characters to get moments for them over OP just being the Luffy show.

Nope. Goku defeated all major villains with tons of help from his friends. So did Naruto etc. Oda follows the same path.

Major villains yes, but not the direct rivals. I haven't watched DBZ but I've watched Naruto and Naruto defeated all his rivals by himself, in a clean 1v1. Naruto vs Kiba, Naruto vs Neji, Naruto vs Sasuke, all of them were clean 1v1.
