I kinda remember seeing a snippet from an interview where Oda said that Blackbeard purposely looks the most like a stereotypical pirate out of all his characters…so if I had to guess, the similarities between Teach and Roger are intentional, possibly telegraphing the former’s ascension to the latter’s vacated throne before Luffy knocks him off it in short order. If we ever see Roger with inconsistent teeth in a flashback or something, someone tag me in this thread so I can take my victory lap

I mean FFS you can swap their facial hair (BB with a mustache and Roger with a beard) and they will look like each other.

BB with mustache:

Literally another Roger

Same goes for Roger with a beard:

fucking twins again:

Now we know Oda barely makes female characters look different but that's not the case with male characters, so is this an intended similarity by Oda to foreshadow that TEACH IS THE TRUE HEIR OF ROGER NOT SHANKS OR LUFFY? :shame::shame:

I see it as Luffy and Teach both embodying Roger to a degree. Young Roger looks far more like Luffy, for example.

Roger was on the neutral spectrum. He valued his crew like Luffy, unlike Teach who sees everything he owns as expendable. But Roger wasn't above underhanded tactics like a true Pirate, such as sneaking into WCI to steal Linlin's poneglyph rubbing, something Luffy objected to when Usopp suggested.

Teach lives for that.

Roger also has a reputation of being violent, which is supported by Squard. who's crew was attacked by him. Luffy would retaliate if you went after his crewmates, but he would never willingly resort to Roger's extreme methods or motivations. Methods that are more along the lines of Teach's ways. But like Luffy, Roger only acts like that with good intentions: when his crew is involved.
