Devil fruits are still special to the world of One Piece, just more prevalent in the current story and logically. The replication and cloning of devil fruits reach no contradiction in the story, make the worldbuilding more dense and add stakes.
The "wonderful past" that you are describing never existed. You are only refering to a part of the story that you liked years ago, a part of the story that evolved decade ago the moment we entered the Alabasta arc.
And BTW, you are missunderstanding what a retcon is. There was no retcon with Luffy's devil fruit, it was an expension of the knowledge. In short: worldbuilding. First of all you don't know what World Building is. Changing Luffy DF has nothing to do with World Building. And by expension of knowledge I think you meant expansion which isn't. Luffy DF retcon isn't making our knowledge of One Piece any bigger in fact it is decreasing since we can't trust on nothing that was previously stated before. Oda is breaking rules that he himself created.
DF aren't that special since haki was introduced. Awakening made them somewhat special again but Kaido statement about haki and how Roger didn't had a DF just lowered their stocks again. And now that DF are easily replicated who cares about it, haki above all. And that shit dream plot, sounds something a 5 year old would come up with. And don't even try to sell the target audience argument that is the worst argument you fanboys use.
The wonderful part means the peak of One Piece sales which was Marineford arc on manga and Enies Lobby on anime. After that we only had a decline on sales year by year with one year or another being an exception like this year of 2022. And even if you try to justify by having less volume which didn't happened in 2022 the volumes are selling less and less they used to sell. Peak volume was on Fishmen Island Arc which many of you fanboys says it was the worst of New World.

What would be the problem of some more characters having SSJ transformation? It was well stated that future sayans generations used to have greater potential compared to the old ones. Still we didn't even saw Pam going SSJ while Goten and Trunks already could at the same age or younger.
First, that has nothing to do with the series getting bad.
Second, did you forget that without Number 18 Goku would never defeat Super 17? That Goten and Trunks played a huge whole on Buu Saga with Piccolo being their tutor? Without Bulma Vegeta would never become SSJ4 and fusion with Goku?
