Powers & Abilities Why Mihawk's swordsmanship is the greatest

#1
In one piece, we are presented with various types of swordsmanship. However, amongst the strongest swordsmen, Mihawk's swordsmanship is unique. It is unique in that Mihawk is the only one of the top swordsmen who utilizes a classical form of swordsmanship.

Mihawk uses his sword to cut his enemies. No other top tier swordsman uses their sword like this.

Fujitora uses his sword to channel his gravity powers. Shanks imbues his sword with internal destruction haki in order to create a shockwave like slash(which I believe is how kamusari was described in some promotional material). Kizaru uses a laser sword. Big Mom's ikoku is more of a sword blast than an actual slicing attack.

Mihawk is the only one who cuts.

I think the reason why Mihawk's swordsmanship is the greatest is that it is the hardest swordsmanship to master. Using DFs is basically a form of cheat codes that boosts your power level. Techniques like Ikoku probably take zero skill and just raw strength.

Regarding Shanks and Roger's internal destruction swordsmanship, this is likely a less skilled swordsmanship. A good swordsman can cut anything, but Shanks and Roger don't care about cutting, they just use internal destruction haki because it is normally the more powerful variant of CoA.

Mihawk on the other hand doesn't use internal destruction CoA, not because he can't, but rather because it betrays the ideal of swordsmanship. Rather, he focuses on using his haki to increase the hardness of his blade, so that he can cut anything he wishes. In doing so, Mihawk mastered armament hardening and attained the strongest version of armament hardening, the black blade.

Normally, internal destruction haki is more powerful than armament hardening, but via a black blade, Mihawk can defeat even internal destruction haki swordsmen like Shanks.

Your first sentence is a lie… there are no “various types of swordsmanship”

mihawk is the STRONGEST swordsman simply because he is able to defeat the other swordsmen… there is nothing special about him outside of the fact that he would win the fight

there is no further classifications of swordsmanship. There are no types. Nothing separates any swordsman from mihawk besides the fact that they are weaker than him

Word, because Mihawk gained his title by beating every Swordsman in the World. That's how that worked....

This is obvious. Agendas aside, Shanks' divine departure looks like a function of some sort of barrier. Most likely internal destruction as well like you said. Fujitora is a df merchant, we haven't seen him use a single cutting attack.

Mihawk's attacks have always been the cleanest of slices. It would be extremely disappointing to see Mihawk using his blade like a glorified broomstick. All those non contact haki shenanigans imbued into attacks, leave them for the wannabes. It's a disservice to his lethality and to Yoru.

Titles always have to fit the character, that's the thing this fanbase who is caught up in agendas fails to realize. WSM is largely in part due to WB's life wiping DF, WSC is because Kaidou is an unkillable dragon, WSS has to be at the pinnacle of swordsmanship, so naturally he will flex the strongest cutting attacks. Which contrary to what a lot of people want to believe does not include bringing down meteors to level an island.

Head canon and cope all around . Shanks fights the exact same way as zoro
he literally doesn't, Zoro uses 3 swords, Shanks uses 1

So Mihawk uses the same type of swordsmanship as Law, imbuing awakening into his sword and stretching it and then doing shockwave damage?

Obviously there are different types of swordsmanship. And as the WSSM, Mihawk's is the strongest. I'm not trying to push any agenda here.

… he didn’t get it by “having the best type of swordsmanship”

Zoro’s on the path to be WSS and has never once spoken about “types of swordsmanship”

zoro’s path to WSS consists of literally one thing, Winning fights

@Monkey D Theories im gonna repeat this, THIS US PLAIN HEADCANON

An example of why this is ain’t a thing is Zoro vs killer… Zoro randomly was able to use Killer’s scythe like any other of his swords

People were even wondering whether Zoro ever trained with scythes ever in his life or whether Zoro has been randomly proficient in many other weapons this whole time and it just never came up

The answer to the quandary is IT DOESNT MATTER… Oda doesn’t care that there should ab a world of difference between using scythes and swords… He doesn’t actually care about any specifics regarding “swordsmanship”… We went through the arc about swordsmen and literally nothing came up regarding it

I don’t want to say I know for sure what Oda is thinking but I can use the 1000 chapters of the manga and how little Oda cares about swordsmanship to tell he definitely doesn’t think about this enough for it to be real

The peak of swordsmanship is the most simple form of swordsmanship which is cutting
U will see swordsmen show their swordsmanship with devil fruits ( eg : law and fujitora )
U will also see them use certain shockwave attacks
But at the end of the day the best and strongest form of swordsmanship is simply cutting and slicing

You understand that swordsmen have different styles

this thread is just me explaining why Mihawk’s is the strongest. Idk why you are raging.
