Questions & Mysteries Why Not Use Poneglyphs To Foreshadow Nika?

#1
I hate the fact that poneglyphs have been basically none existent in expanding the bigger narrative of one piece ever since fishman island. When Robin found out about Joy Boy and Poseidon with the FI poneglyph, we got a great glimpse into the bigger picture of the world. You could argue that the road poneglyph kind of did something similar, but it just gave coordinates which importance was explained by inuarashi to the Straw Hats.

The Poneglyphs should've been used to mention nika and possibly the real power of the gomu gomu no mi and not some half baked idiot whom confused a fight to the death with an open mic session of his prison time.

They could've even had that info in the poneglyphs from Whole Cake Island and have Robin decipher it at the beginning of Wano.

Just seems like a missed opportunity to foreshadow current events in a more natural way with a story telling tool that would actually make the information come out as fluid and not forced.

Oda is incapable of using common sense. Oda now only knows how to create "hype". Outside of that, is pushing the boundaries of what he is capable of. This is exactly why Fishman Island is a better arc than Wano. Forget the main antagonist of Fishman Island for a second and just focus on purely the story execution and it is miles ahead of Wano.

Interesting take, let's see:
  • Robin rarely talks about her readings/findings...
  • There seems to be no info about any DFs in the Poneglyphs...
  • Skypieans have no idea what rubber is...
  • Poneglyphs were written during/after Joyboy's era...
  • Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika was awakened during/prior to that era...
  • Gomu Gomu no Mi was renamed sometime after WG was established, seemingly trying to cover that info up...
  • It's unclear if the Rocks Pirates, Roger Pirates or the Hero Trio (Garp, Sengoku, Tsuru) know that info...
  • It may likely be written but only in the Rio Poneglyph due to the "essence" of the info...

That certain could have been done, Oda should have explored One Piece gods abit more thus creating more hype for the reveal

If Nika was Joy Boy, then......

I also find it hilarious that no one gives a shit about the God race of Lunarians not having a single foreshadow anywhere in the story, but its such a problem with Nika, when we've actually had mention of a "Sun God" before. Like, it's cool, we know there were Moon people, so the fact that they were considered "Gods" is all gravy. But we know there was a "Sun God", but how fucking dare Oda never having given us his name until now.

Interesting reply, let's see:

  • Robin has talked about all her readings except the one she found as a child. Talked about the Alabasta one with King Nefertari (Chap 218), Talked about the Skypea one with the Shandia tribe (Chap 301), and talked about the Fisman Island one to herself and to King Neptune (Chap 628 and 649).
  • We only know the contents of 8 (including roads) out of the 36 poneglyphs. They can contain any information Oda wants them to contain. Specifically in regards to the void century where it's pretty much certain that devil fruits are very important in.
  • Skypeans are not the only ones whom wrote to poneglyphs, Joy Boy had his apology letter written. And you don't have to specifically say it was rubber, just that Nika's power can be inherited.
  • Correct! They were written during Joy Boy's era, whom we all assume was the previous owner of the nika fruit!
  • Correct again! It is assumed that it was awakened there! So why not write it?
  • The poneglyphs exist to uncover what the WG wants to hide. Seems like a great place to talk about them hiding nika's power!
  • The Rocks Pirates and Hero Trio didn't write the poneglyphs, them knowing or not is irrelevant. The Roger Pirates may have known given that Shanks fought CP9 for the fruit.
  • It may be, but the point is that it should have been exposed before for a better narrative. That's the whole point of the post.

Depends on what part Nika played in void century..
There is also Buddha (god) df exists , but it wasn't hyped as Nikka one. If Nika was real figure existed during Void century then Buddha should too..
Also we don't know origin of devil fruits..
I think we need to wait till Oda drop some more info about devil fruit origin..

Why Not Use Poneglyphs To Foreshadow Nika?
The simple answer is that Oda probably decided to have Nika's fruit be a story thing at the last minute, about half way through the Onigashima battle, and they just didn't have enough time for Robin to read any poneglyph about it in a way that feels natural.

I suppose I don't blame Oda for the change. Nika being an inherently happy and fun concept when the world is so bad and persistently getting so much worse, makes sense. We've seen Oda be influenced by his times already, when he prevented Pell from dying because 9/11 had only recently happened.

If Kaido won in any capacity further than what he already has, it would feel like dictators being justified by their power (and boy to we have a lot of those in the world right now) makes sense, and that's definitely not the message Oda wants to give right now.

I really just hope that this new addition to the story doesn't mess up the plans Oda made for the One Piece endgame too much.
