Questions & Mysteries Why was Xebec at the Reverie ?

#10
Oda always does everything with a purpose. If we look back at one of the first feats we learned of Blackbeard, is that he rampaged through Drum Kingdom, and turned it into a nation without a King. This is most likely symbolic of the fact that Blackbeard himself is Royalty, without a Nation, which would mean that his father, was once a king.

It makes sense considering Harold had to sneak into the Reverie, while it seems that Xebec was there as a guest, as it wasn't mentioned that he launched any kind of raid or assault on Mariejois, only that he was there, and that one incident is what earned him a bounty and the governments ire. That means he wasn't wanted prior to the incident where he killed an Admiral, and only Kings and Queens are invited to the Reverie.

He was a king.
If this is meant to mirror how his son made a name for himself, then it'd make sense if he were affiliated with the CDs in some way and trusted by them, only to burn that bridge by murdering a CD for something he wants (Harald's freedom in this case), and then have someone sent after him who he proceeds to high diff and then escape. Just like how Teach killed Thatch, beat Ace, used that to become famous and eventually gathered a large amount of strong followers too.
I see no reason for him to have cheap shotted the Admiral since that's not enough for people as strong and ambitious as Whitebeard, Big Mom, Shiki and Kaido. He has to be legitimately stronger than an Admiral for that.

My guess is he used to be a King of a nation and that’s when he saw the empty throne and began to covet it.
He probably saw Imu on the Empty Throne and that’s when he started digging deeper and breaking all the world’s taboos. It’d be a pretty simple explanation, but it works. Everything started the moment he found out about Imu. They tried to kill him, he escaped (killing an admiral in the process) and became a wanted man. His ambition would then be passed on to his son.

I doubt he saw Imu until God Valley. My guess is like Stelly he saw the Empty Throne and wanted to sit on it.

During the reverie, he broke his first taboo and killed a Celestial Dragon.
Then he committed his second taboo and killed the admiral who was sent for him.

He didn’t kill a Celestial Dragon at the Reverie, and there has to be some kind of justification for his ambitions. Something must’ve happened during that Reverie that changed everything for him. Also, everyone knows about the Empty Throne, it’s not some hidden secret you need to discover or see in person.

He was on the younger side like Stelly, so if he had just become a king it would be his first time seeing the throne

How do we know he didn’t kill a CD? And as we’re shown, seeing the empty throne can cause people to covet it.

If Xebec had actually killed Celestial Dragons, the narrator would have made it clear.
Just seeing the empty throne isn’t a strong enough reason to go crazy over it. Why would he kill an admiral and flee otherwise? It’s much more plausible that at that moment he encountered some forbidden secret or taboo, which set him on the path we know today.

Seeing the throne is a strong enough reason we see that In the manga.

Also why else would an Admiral be there? They’re not stationed at the reverie
