I hope he won't die but if the arc was more tense, I wouldn't have been all that's surprised if he died in a tragic "he almost found out the secret of the D Clan," kinda way but the way things are going, at worst some of the Supernova will get knocked out. All of the Scabbards are alive, I'd be pretty mad if Law was the only dude to die.

Luffy does not want to be immortal, that would be totally out of character. And if a friend has to die for it even less!

Luffy would not wish a friend to be sacrificed but Law could still not listen. Regardless true immortality does not exist (should not) one could still die in a combat.
