To me it's more like Sanji having blue flames eliminates Sabo's chances of getting them... his awakening will probably be more akin to Akainu and Aokiji

The matchup problem isn’t really a temperature thing Akainu said magma consumes fire not that’s it’s necessarily hotter, in their clash the magma basically smothered the flames to a point where even Ace could get burned from the attack. Plus idk how Sabo awakens his fruit in this short amount of time. Also Akainu should have awakening too, so if the flame fruit gets superior through awakening wouldnt Akainu just bring things back to square one when he activates his awakening? Not even sure if logia awakening is going to be a temperature increase thing anyway.

As for Awakening, it depends on how their Awakenings work. If the Mera Awakening gives the user blue flames, and the Magu Awakening only gives the user greater AoE without increasing the temperature of the magma, then the Mera user isn’t at as much of a disadvantage

Since Sanji obtained blue fire, it’s only logical that the Fire Fire Fruit user can also awaken blue flames with enough mastery of their fruit. This would give Sabo a way to overpower Akainu’s magma

Just checked viz so the line goes “you’re just fire, my magma can burn even you. My powers are far superior to yours!” I suppose it can be interpreted as my magma is hotter than fire, but it could also mean the magma is more powerful than flame as in like the force/thickness or whatever bottom line is magma is superior no matter how we want to view it according to him. For the longest time I’ve went with “magma consumes fire” I guess wherever I’ve been reading isn’t correct. Also to your point I suppose I never took into account that logia awakenings can very per fruit, which is something we’ve seen across the revealed paramecia awakenings. Guess it all comes down to how Oda wants to execute things!
