So, I made a big post about people that might help rescue Garp in the wake up a public execution of him, mirroring Ace.
But, there was one character I completely overlooked: Shanks.
Ace was Roger's son (like Shanks), and was raised by Garp, and, Luffy, who is likewise like a son to Shanks, is Garp's grandson.
On top of this, Roger protected Rogue, Roger's lover and Ace's Mother, from the WG.
This paints a pretty funny conclusion: while Garp DESPISES SHANKS for pushing Luffy into piracy, Shanks most likely likes Garp a good deal.
Garp raised the son of Shanks' Captain, and kept him safe, until he could set sail on his own, and is the reason Shanks met Luffy in the first place. If Luffy is never dropped off on Goa Kingdom, well... we literally have no idea where he would be.
"But, CoC... what about Marineford?"
Shanks is waiting for Luffy to become the King of the Pirates, and, Shanks, like Sengoku, has been trying to keep the world as stable as possible.
The reason Shanks didn't help Ace, is because if the Red Hair Pirates and Whitebeard Pirates had joined forces, they would have crushed the Navy, allowing Pirates worldwide to thrive and roam free.
Global balance is the reason Shanks refused to save Ace. He knew how much power he wielded, and this is exactly why Shanks also stopped Kaido from going to Marineford: Kaido would have aided his former Nakama, Newgate, whom he had a good relationship with in the past. Shanks knew Kaido + Newgate would decimate the Marines, and chose to stop this.
However, BLACKBEARD EXECUTING GARP is a different story. This is the Hero of the Marines, a global beacon of hope in a dark time. And, unlike with Marineford, Shanks interfering here does nothing to threaten world balance: if anything, Garp dying would remove necessary good from the Marines, making the violent types and those who like sucking up to the CDs even more powerful.
Garp dying is HORRIBLE for the global balance, right now.
So?
I actually think Shanks will help save Garp from Blackbeard.
And I think Garp will be REALLY MAD ABOUT IT, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
