I really doubt it at this point, Oda LOVES never giving us what we want and need.

Still waiting on Akainu vs Kuzan/Aokiji, The Payback War, Rocky Port Incident, Gods Valley in full, Shanks vs Kaido, Green Bull vs Weevil (where was Marco during this too?) and whatever else I might have forgotten atm.

I would say Moria vs Kaido too but that was a background panel after over a decade of waiting to see it....The anime barely extended it too, so yeah....

Don't get your hopes up too high. Oda is far more likely to disappoint us than give us what we want. I would love to see Mihawk vs Shanks as one of the things we've yet to see in One Piece but the more I see to want to see something happen in OP, the less likely it seems to happen, aside from things like Wano and Elbaf arcs actually happening. But currently my record is overwhelmingly negative luck or w/e lol..

Oda hates drawing fights and doesn't want to draw one more than 1 chapter long. Unless he draws it so he can glaze Shanks the most "underrated" character in the series clearly, he will give us nothing more than breadcrumbs at best.

I wonder what he thinks of these fanmade chapters of stuff like Shanks vs Mihawk, I wonder if it winds him up ironically? Or he thinks he doesn't have to draw them now too, since his fans will do it for him? And thus the same for fans who make animations of things we have yet and most likely will never see too?

But you know, Oda will gladly wasted tons of chapters on irrelevant shit, annoying characters, reactionary panels, goon moments, literal filler for multiple chapters etc than give us what we actually want and need.

(I wrote this up yesterday but didn't send it, so here.)

Flashbacks for both of them? Yes

For their duels? You're delusional if you expect anything more than this :kobeha::kobeha:

Depends the route oda wants to go

Oda showed roger using kamusari, then showed shanks kamusari looking way better

Oda showed the previous gen strongest clash, when he shows mihawk and shanks clash their combined haki could eclipse anything we've seen.

It's a bit silly that Oda would want to keep roger and wb as the strongest, yet display shanks in a direct comparison as being more effective with the same move.

Anyone can say roger wasn't trying that much for oden using kamusari but when oda puts in the narrative that what-ifs or buts are meaningless, that should apply to when he shows something in the narrative, for him to backtrack or cherry-pick on that would be so lame.

If their clash wasn't better than this one, he should have showed it earlier on in the series.

Nah I got no doubt their clash in terms of quality will eclipse this. I just don't expect oda to write anything more than just one ACoC clash from both of them because he's a moron. If we get it then it's brilliant. After all it is the dream matchup according to oda himself

You must have forgot Shanks isn't a swordsman
Unironically... Oda did say "how does he actually fight?" when asked about Shanks's fighting style. While he is indeed a swordsman (yeah yeah weaker than Mihawk), he definitely has more to his toolkit. I mean his CoC is so potent it wifi diffed an admiral from miles away. Shanks definitely has more than just swordsmanship in his skillset

That'd be fine if Oda didn't have him use a sword every single time we've seen him fight since he was a child

Whatever we see, if zoro vs mihawk doesn't eclipse that it will be hella disappointing too

Shanks had killing or destructive intent behind the attack, Roger wasn't. He wanted to meet Oden, that was salutation
