Will it bother you?

Its assumed the best of the best appeared in marineford on the side of the marines. But what if thats not the case? Maybe there were marines stationed too far away to make it in time. Or maybe the draft caught more that fuji and aramaki.

Can you suspend your disbelief if it turns out there are multiple commander level marine soldiers? Despite the fact that (aside from garp) the vice admirals have been stepping stones to highlight other characters.

Lonz, bastille, smoker, maynard, all have been shat on by all ranges of top tiers, ranging from low (punk hazard law) and high (Whitebeard).

Ar this point would it be strange to see a vice admiral cut jinbe open? Or send zoro flying? Or break sanjis body. I think its good for the story, but i cant accept the logic of it.

I bring this up because people were talking about smokers current relevancy. But i cant see any non admiral being much stronger than vergo was. And i think vergo was vet level at best. Doberman and momonga are the only two that wouldn't surprise me if they were commander level, as well as garps apparent right hand, Bogart.

Well, I always welcome strong navy fighters outside of the Admirals.

Most Vice Admirals outside of Garp has been "underwhelming" so far so I hope that Admiral candidates/Zodiac Vice Admirals would change the whole view of VA power structure.

But the chance of Oda introducing top tier Marines are super rare. Marine hits the jackpot when they drafted Fujitora and Ryokugyu to the team. And that's during when the Navy peaked out according to Akainu's regime of making the Navy stronger than ever. Which is crazy to think about it.

Drafting ppl like fuji and greenbull is crazy in itself. How can such strong ppl be independant and not belong to any organization before the TS? I really need to see a flash-back for their backstories.

VA are basically fonders now except garp. I dont expert anything from them.
Oda has to make the VA's special in some way though. If not, whats so scary about a buster call? There were 5 VA's in the enies lobby buster call, but i dont even think 5 VA's are a threat to someone like zoro, if those VA's are as pathetic as bastille was when sabo no diffed him.

And the draft was honestly ridiculous. It could have worked if oda planted the seeds for it. The strawhats have been many places, but most if the non gov or pirate affiliated warriors, were fodder or mid. Pell was a great warrior in alabasta. Kyros was the hero of dressrosa. Those guys arent tough at all. Every powerful individual the SH randomly encountered was either a marine (aokiji) or a pirate (Ace/Blackbeard). Never a local.

Why is that weird? If you that strong you should be able to be independant.

Honestly we need some solid vice admirals

I want the Cross Guild fight to be solid

Maybe some of these vice admirals that were drafted fought against Novas or warlords or roger

Sure, there can be strong people out there. The Marines are just supposed to be the naval force. There should be military personnel out there, air force not yet invented. And a countries strongest could be scaled up. Fujitora could have been Wanos equivalent of Pell, Wyper and Kyros that defected because of Kaido.

The problem is how badly One Piece has handled it. Oda should have dropped hints in story and in databooks all the way back from East Blue. The one example we have is when they talked about Jinbei all the way back in Baratie. Then if Jinbei had turned up as an enemy or even as a new Marine we would already know this was a hell of a beast whose reputation has travelled all the way back to East Blue.

It would only require a few panels here and there. Make Robin and Nami read the papers and mention an up and coming supernova from West Blue about to enter Grandline and then introduce the character after 250 chapters, make Iceburg mention a certain Marines feats earning him a fast promotion to VA, make Shakky have a concerned face about a bounty hunter that killed Jozu easily to establish a name and a threshold power level.

You could have had Marco, before finally deciding to go to Wano, mention "Wano... It was such a strong a nation. Oden, Issho, Hyogoro, Ashura... Isn't that right, Fujitora"?
