- Assuming Aemon became kingsgaird at the age of 17, prime at 20~23 during Dorne conquest. Cregon would be already hitting his 50s.
- Both are in their prime in this, 20~25 years old.

Feats/Portrayal :-
- Aemon : Greatest Knight of Westeros History
- Cregan : From aemon himself, that he nevee fought a Finer swordsman than Cregan.

- Cregan : Ice Valyrian steel

Location : Harrenhal, Setting : Trial by Combat

Great matchup. Think Aemon wins 6/10 times. I mean being regarded as the greatest knight and the strongest warrior is his whole shtick.

Gonna be extreme diff obviously because Aemon calls Cregan the finest swordsman he’s fought and assuming that Aemon fought him in his early 20s, it means he was fighting a post prime weakened Cregan yet to give him such a compliment means that Cregan is relative to Aemon prime for prime.

Would still give the edge to Aemon though cause that statement doesn’t necessarily mean that Cregan is stronger, just that he’s the one that impressed Aemon the most. For all we know, Cregan may have not even pushed him to his limits the most but Aemon could have been impressed by his longevity.

In the end, being the strongest Westerosi knight in history is kind of a big deal and there’s only one that gets constantly heralded as that. Aemon also has Dark Sister which is a big combative edge.

So yeah, Aemon extreme diff imo

Yet you somehow know how Aemon the Dragonknight is
Almost all accounts of him will be subject to historical amplification. They are not reliable, it’s something GRRM focuses on in every detail of his work. Even his maps, he says, are as accurate at 12th - 15ty century coastlines. I.e. not truly representative.

so trying to take every bit of hype from a romantic figure like Aemon who—no doubt was good—gets blown up by time and popularity is a very bad way to power scale ASOIaF.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Dark Sister a more special sword? I remember reading it somewhere. Could be wrong since it was a Daemon fan so it could be just him glazing
Idk about special status but dark sister is built for speed as much I can get from canon.
Where as ice is a long sword, heavy and big.

But both has valyrian steel.

Only arthur dayne, Dawn has special status, you're confusing him with daemon ig.
