Controversial Would Luffy vs. Akainu be a terrible goofy garbage fight?

My feelings on this matter:

I don't think the Post-Wano era prediction/forecast of this fight is good.

A character like Akainu should not be subjected to the circus treatment. He has some of the highest one shot kill potential in the series, and has a deep history with Luffy - Luffy even has the twitching scar thing going on similar to Shanks scar from Blackbeard.

Akainu should be handled as a battle with the seriousness, severity and intensity worthy of the character and that history. Perhaps soberness or solemness, at least.

But based on the current direction what will happen if it occurs is instead going to be this:

Luffy popping out his eyes as a magma flow approaches and half-pretending to panic looking like Shaggy from Scooby Doo, Akainu's eyeballs coming out with Enel expression when he realizes his body is now stretchy too and having non-stop "WTF" moments when he realizes how unpredictable, goofy and trollish his enemy's ability is.

I get the place and role of gear 5, but spare Akainu that treatment. At least a fight or two should be serious in the end game. Did Ace die right in front of Luffy, and Luffy nearly die also just so Luffy could laugh around with Akainu like they were two competitive friends playing tennis having fun? Come on man.

Literally, Gear 5 is just going to ruin this fight in my opinion. In fact, I think I would prefer to not have this fight happen now at all.

I think this is a preferable outcome at this point, despite Luffy's scar twitching at the mention of Akainu's name. I read that other thread where the OP theorized on Dragon vs Akainu, and I think it seems pretty solid.

I honestly would have loved a fight between Luffy and him, were it not for Gear 5.

I don't hate gear 5 though, however I think there are contexts where its effects are inappropriate.

No it won't, just because Gear 5 is goofy that doesn't mean the fight against Akainu will be goofy either and I really don't think Oda is going to make that fight terrible.

Based on what though? Sure, we had a few serious panels of Luffy vs. Kaido in Gear 5 at the very end, but let's lot forget that the so called "World's Strongest Creature" touted as a manifestation of "Survival of the Fittest" and "a man looking for a place to die" was being used as a jump rope by Luffy. Not to mention, if Oda's prime interest has become having fun and laughter, then there will be a crowd that would love to see Akainu trolled and find it hilarious because of the contrast against his previous portrayal, and there's always a chance that Oda might placate those people's desires.

Yep. That is what I am afraid of as well. Monkey Gear fits Luffy's personality, but his history with Akainu means that that fight should be something entirely different. Monkeying it would ruin it IMO.

Luffy will roast meat with Akainu's magma and eat it in the middle of the fight, but none of that will happen because it's a dragon that puts an end to the sad life of Akainu's slave
