Future Events Would you drop the manga?

Perhaps one thing would get me to drop the series.

Discovering that the One Piece indeed constituted no material treasure, even remotely material. But I would tend to say that's pretty pretty unlikely to occur going by both Roger's and Whitebeard's speeches.

If something exists it is meant to be tangible at least in some way.

Wow... 😱😮😁 what I confession!? All of you agreeing that Oda's writing has decreased significantly since time-skip is a joy to my ears. Just as I expected non of you will quit one piece no matter what, it's addiction at this point, and that's what makes Oda so confident that he can get away with poor/bad writing. Back in east blue and grand line one piece wasn't as big as it is today, thus Oda was doing his best to write as good of a story as he possibly can, you could see Oda's effort and commitment in every chapter. That's what made me fall in love with one piece, I thought that one piece might be the best Japanese storytelling of all times. But things started to turn after the time-skip-and with every arc Oda slowly realized that his fans are addicted, they will not express any criticism even if they don't like what he's doing. Oda realized that there's no reason to work harder when you will get the same results with bad or good storytelling, most of the readers can't even distinguish one form another ether, so what's the point of hard work when there's no difference?

The luck of criticism made Oda overconfident, his interest in one piece started to fade with every year passing by, there was no reason to put as much effort and love as he had in the past. One Piece is simply TOO-BIG-TO-FAIL right now. The huge fan base is established, the Youtubers who make living out of one piece content are the best marketing that they would ever dream to have; god forbid someone to say something negative about the new chapter and those 5 YouTube channels with 100k subs will defend Oda as they would their money-after all there's no difference between each other. This days One Piece is a BIG-MONEY-MACHINE with hundreds of moving parts: from character figures that are being sold by thousands with insanely high and unjustified prices, Databooks that are merely made to make quick profit from stupid fans who can't even realize that no one would reveal any important information outside of the main source, Movies with the worst plot humanly possible, fan websites, YouTube channels and hundreds of other entertaining money makers based on one piece. I don't hate as much Oda for bad storytelling as much as I do you guys, you are the cause of one piece's degradation, those who will eat anything in front of them whiteout asking questions. If you were little bid more demanding from Oda, if you were ready to show your disappointment-and open to criticism, then one piece would or might have been as good as it once was. 😔

One Piece is not everything, there are other good storytelling out there. Spend little bit more time outside of one piece and you'll find them, I personally found two every chapter boils my blood with excitement. Don't be a brainless ship and become an individual who isn't afraid to express his thoughts no matter how much negativity it may get.

There may be better written shows out there. But Oda keeping his fans for 1000 chapters over 23 years is something I dont think those better written shows can do.

Because those shows don't have things like: Zoro vs Sanji, Luffy vs Zoro, Yonko vs Admirals, Mihawk vs Shanks etc. All those things usually are necessary to make the fans hate each other so much, that eventually it becomes personal, and when it does, it makes fans follow the story just to find a reason to shit on the opposite character and make threads. Kiping your audience is hard if you wanna do it by good storytelling, you have to have a consistently quality level to not lose your readers.

But I agree that Oda is a genius in marketing, his a master in manipulating the readers.

Those versus battles are mostly in forums like these. I don't think outside here the remaining 99.9999999999% of one piece fans follow the show to be arguing on forums.

I'll never drop One Piece, I started reading scans at 12 year old in 2009, back when chapter 561 was first published, It's been 11 years and although I did take breaks from times to times (during the middle of Dressrosa most notably) I'm too invested in the series to ever think of dropping it no matter what Oda does

I've read it for way too long to actually stop reading it now.

The thing is: Once you accept that OP is simply a fun shonen manga with great worldbuilding, but actually a lot of writing flaws, too, you're just way more relaxed.

In my eyes there isn't such a pressure for Oda to put out chapters with great storywriting, like we expect from HxH, Berserk & Co., since that has never been his main calling card.

I'll just enjoy the ride, praise what needs to be praised and bitch about what needs to be bitched about.
Your guys' fetish with HxH is actually bewildering. It's not THAT good of a manga. Like holy shit.
