Before anything else I would like to point out that this is my first time making a thread so if I screw up anything in the editing then plz dont crucify me, also I want to make it clear that THIS IS NOT MY THEORY NOR A HILL I'M WILLING TO DIE ON, this is simply a theory that I came across that seeks to come up with a way for Yamato to join the crew without breaking certain patterns, and though its mostly a bunch of assumptions I still felt like putting it here just to see what other people will think about it, and with all that out of the way lets begin because this will be long
I belive everyone is painfully aware that Yamato is the current fan favorite for last SH, my own pfp denounces me as sharing this sentiment, so I wont go over the details to why thats a common belive, and obviously there are also many people that came up with reasons why it wont happen, but one detail that isnt brought very often outside of japanese discussions(afaik) is that her Makami fruit would break the number patter that the crew has been following. For those that arent aware here is the gist of it:
This self explanatory pic is from the SBS 59, and as you can see Oda not only felt like including this theory on a SBS but he also played suspicious about it. and later some other people added more to this theory, saying that it has all been built up to one big pun where, if you add all these numbers+ the 29 , you get 325= SAN NI GO= SUNNY GO, wich as you all know is the name of the SH ship. And thats where the problem is with Yamato according to some, her "Inu Inu" can be a pun for 1.0 1.0, but that would mess the greater pun, and Oda does love his puns. Granted this is all just theory in the first place so it doesnt prove anything, and there are other theories about how how the pun could be made to work, but while looking for these I found one short of joke theory that goes beyond: What if she just gets rid of it? Now, the obvious reaction for this is, well, obvious
The rules so far for Devil fruits are clear, if you eat them thats it, you are stuck with it until you die, so its way more likely that Yamato isnt joining, and my answer to that is....yes, but thats no fun and imo Oda has undoubtedly been writting Yamato as a potential SH and I dont see him pulling such a massive red herring this late in the game, so with that in mind it becomes more of a question of "how will Oda have this cake(Yamato) and eat it too(the pun)?", so here is the idea:
The truth is, the Makami isnt a problem just because of the pun, its also thematically a problem, its supposed to be the god that guards Wano, so it would be weird to have such a precious fruit being taken away from Wano....but thats actually not the first time we've seen such a theme in this arc
Shisui was also a Wano treasure, the blade that belonged to their SWORD GOD, and it got stole by Moria, a pirate, and now we have Kaido taking a treasure from them as well. But what happened to the Shisui? Thats right, it was returned. Zoro did it because got something better as a replacement of course, but the sword is now back where it belongs, and keep in mind that while Zoro really wanted Shisui back Yamato only got the Makami by accident, she even complained about having it
Like Kaido said it himself she isnt the one that was supposed to have it, and that might be more true than we imagine, the Makami might have a role to play in the grand scheme of things regarding Wano, so its user might have to stay there to guard it, wich is the opposite of what Yamato wants, she wants to free Wano AND herself, imagine having a power that would compel you to become something you dont want, something you are not....Oh hey, thats also something we saw happen in this arc
The raid suit was turning Sanji in something he hated, into Germa, a soldier without emotions even though the core of Sanji's character and even of his power set is his emotions, and because of that he got rid of it. So with this we see how Yamato getting rid of the Makami would go along nicely with moments that the top 2 SHs under Luffy went through, but the main problem remains: How the heck would she take the power out of her so it could remain on Wano while she leaves? Well the potential answer to that lies with a plotpoint that is major in this whole saga against Kaido: SMILES. or more specifically the failed ones
One plot point that its defintely going to be addressed is the cure of the people that suffer the effects from the failed smiles. from Toko, to Ebisu and all the way to Killer, they will 100% be cured, we have 3 super doctors at Wano and probably all the data from Queen somewhere, who is someone that worked with Vegapunk in the same project that led to the same science that is the foundation of these fruits, Momo's fruit and even the Germa: the lineage factor. Lets go to the explanation of what causes this:
Its an effect from the S.A.D., the mutagen that is the source of these fake DF powes and wich was all based on the same research that led to the clonning of Kaido's fruit, wich so far seems like a pretty perfect copy, they even share the same side effect of not being able to swin and with Queen its implied that they cant try again by eating another, just like one cannot eat 2 devil fruits(unless you're blackbeard), so its not unlikely that, in order to heal them, Chopper, Law and maybe even Marco will come up with a way to extract the mutation out of the devil fruit powers in general. Granted they are all fake so they will most likely just vanish, but Yamato has a real DF, so by going through the same process that could lead to her fruit simply reappearing in the nearby fruit, that way this Wano treasure could be used by someone that actually wants to stay as its protector and Yamato would be free to travel the world, and without a fruit she wouldnt interfere with the number pattern or even the monster trio dynamic...for now. Well thats it. a very long and unlikely theory but I personally didnt hate the idea, if it happens then theres defintely enough of a set up so it wouldnt feel out of place, so feel free to point out errors or say that I'm reaching HARD:yasu:
